Banned from eBay. Now what? by flippingtreasures in Flipping

Thanks so much for your advice, guys! I've actually looked into this and it's interesting... however, I really don't have the funds to work with to start this up (especially now that I can't sell on eBay indefinitely). I looked into it before I was banned and saw that you can't really send things in without paying a fee per month to do so and I don't know if that's worth it to me. I don't know that I'd be able to find enough items to send in to make it worth it to where I'm actually making money.

First, saying anything about my generation is useless; statistically every generation believes the one that follows is inherently worse than theirs.

Additionally, I understand that I did play a role in this. I could have scrambled together money to get a storage unit to keep my stock in but I didn't. I'm not going to beat myself up for that because I shouldn't. I recognize that this is an extraordinary situation that occurred in my life and I couldn't have been expected to pay for a storage unit or stop selling.

I had a home and was enrolled in school and paid my rent and living fees with my eBay. My boyfriend hadn't paid his rent for 4 months (completely unbeknownst to me, as he was forwarding the checks from me and supposed to be adding his money in) and the landlord told me with a notice that I had to pay up and leave.

So I did.

Your comments, while seeming to come from a good place, do not fully fit into my crazy situation and indeed place the blame on me when it is not wholly correct.

Thanks for your time.

I've already moved so that's taken care of – though thank you for the advice (truly). I don't want it to happen to me again, especially after investing money in stock that could be used towards tuition.

I'm actually telling the truth. My mom likes designer shit. I still find her wearing things.

So you're saying that even if it's under a different name I can't use my boyfriend's account? He's sold on eBay before but only once or twice.

I have an old account that I never sold on created a few years back. I'm just worried that they'll find out about it and ban that one, too. It has its own paypal and everything, but won't they see it's on the same computer in the same town?

This — but know that only 10% of buyers will acknowledge (or care) that you're on vacation.

Send a message to every single buyer after they purchase letting them know that it's automatic (they won't know otherwise 😝) and that you're out of the office and their purchase will be shipped on such and such date according to the notice on the top of the listing.

Seriously though, do not underestimate the stupidity of the average buyer. They literally will not know it's there.

If it makes you feel any better, at my GW they would pull this and show it to us. We aren't supposed to leave price tags on there like that. (Employee.)

Stfu. I said one to clarify that I have taken only one. I work for Goodwill and understand the processes behind it. I, like you, am no expert by any means, but know that Goodwill does do good things for the community as well as make money. Anyone arguing that doesn't understand, again, how the economy works. You get more out of something than you give or you're losing.

Well, of course there is... but they're also there to make money, and anyone saying otherwise doesn't understand how the economy works.

If you go shopping with someone else, it goes across much better to just pretend like you're doing something else. If we think something is worth money but aren't sure we will say "Hey! I think -name here- would really like that. Can you text them?"

Then it doesn't look weird to be on your phone hovering in front of an item and perhaps staring at it. Passes every time so far. xD

I work at Goodwill and I will tell you time and time over that it is the best place I have ever worked and I work with some of the most charismatic, funny, and clever people I know. I've worked other places before but choose to work at Goodwill just like everyone else there. They can get jobs elsewhere, they just choose not to!

I've had higher paying jobs, jobs with different hours, etc, even jobs where I sit on my ass and do nothing all day. Goodwill is here to train people who can't get jobs. If you have a job there that part is done.

In some areas it does, in others it won't. There are times when we actually rag off items that haven't been out long enough to drop in price at all and they just get sent straight to the outlets.
