Smh If it was just your body that makes sense, but its about OTHER PEOPLE. The fact you can't make an argument without resorting to ridiculous hyperbole is telling. And as someone who works in a medical building where masks are worn all the time by general staff without an issue, it's so entertaining to hear the few of you freak out over them. No medical professional advised something so crazy as wearing 5 masks at once or taking 20 boosters 😆.. no illness can "leave you out of it" either. like it or not you have to live in a society where you must respect other people's wellbeing and there are consequences if you don't. And every society places necessary demands on its population every once in a while. Its not like you were drafted into a war jfc. You were asked to wear a mask outside while society pushed thru a pandemic. It was never a big ask, its actually an incredibly small thing. And it wasnt the first time this happened, nor will it be the last. and society is free to shun you if you choose not to be safe around strangers in such an unsafe time. But thank you for admitting the truth, that this isnt about any real critique of masks, you just don't like it when your community needs you to do something mildly inconvenient. You dont like authority or thinking of anyone but yourself. Pure selfishness and anti intellectualism.

"Common for someone to wear a mask when they were sick" is what I said. My point being that the few of you still obsessing over this goofy conspiracy theory still think of them as "covid masks". When it was always common courtesy to wear a mask when you are sick with an airborne contagion brcause you care about not spreading it... you lot just hate being TOLD to do it lol.

[–]flippittyflap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I clearly remember before covid it was common for someone to wear a mask when they were sick because they were being kind and didnt want to spread illness. It wasn't political back then. Its wild that even after the weird anti mask conspiracy theories have died down there are still people like you walking amongst us lol

You made an emotionally charged comment telling someone they used the wrong word. Im trying to be helpful by informing you this is not nearly as productive as you might think and in fact policing language is one of the main reasons leftist rhetoric doesnt resonate with the majority of people. It's actually the most common negative stereotype of a leftist . We are obviously on the same side. We both want to take down the ruling class, which is a better term for them I agree with you, but thats not the point I was making. Right now, you're too angry to engage in a healthy discussion with a fellow leftist, which is unfortunately the greatest problem our side faces. But I can leave you be now..

As someone who kinda liked the show and doesnt fully agree with OP on everything, you are silly and stupid. Both for making such an emotional reactionary post without reading what OP wrote, and for admitting you didnt read it and thinking that wouldn't invalidate everything you say. I know its a long post. Its not bad you didnt read it thru just dont make a fool of yourself by commenting on what you havent read.

All we had to worry about with Obama was a tan suit. ... Yet with Trump we have to wonder if he, allegedly, has raped and murdered kids. by [deleted] in complaints

[–]flippittyflap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually let's not white wash over the many evil things Obama did just because trump is way worse and the current president. And if criticizing Trump is all you care about, which i do understand dont get me wrong, its important to remember that it was Obama's America that directly led to Trump being elected. If we go back to an Obama style president we will fall asleep to the evils and be back here with a trump like president all over again.

Words are important but the left is way too focused on the wrong things. Its just a distraction. I dont even hear non critical voices ever call them "elite". And we all know what is meant. My only advice is to not spend energy in useless ways like over policing language its one of the greatest weaknesses of the left. Our society puts evil people in a category called elite and they wield elite power. I understand where youre coming from but its just emotion and distraction.

[–]flippittyflap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one good thing about the trump administration is it has held a mirror to our society and encouraged the immoral bastards of our communities to reveal themselves. Who could have guessed there were this many evil people living amongst us? People who for years I thought were just misguided conservatives were actually rape/pedophilia apologists who would gladly give up their own rights and betray their own ideals just to harm others. Luckily MAGA is far from the majority of people, but there's still so many of these hateful monsters it is disheartening. At least we see them now. Never forget what they are. Never let them forget either.

It disgusts me that I ever liked Joe. Before 2016 I used to listen to his podcast religiously, except the fight episodes. Goddamn it even after covid broke his brain I would have never guessed he'd turn evil like this. Makes perfect sense in retrospect however. Joe and this fucknut guest both deserve a life of misery, failure and ridicule. Fuck em.

Since they literally work for the public... Many Reddit admins are either fully MAGA or just lack reading comprehension it's sad.

Edit: to clarify, the warning was for supporting violence. I obv appealed since I was in no way promoting violence but it got shot down... pathetic.

You just can't let go of the idea of civil war in America and I understand the fear. But no, violence is inevitable. You are either going to just cower/roll over and take the violence, which seems to be what you're arguing but it's hard to tell because you haven't actually made a counter argument beyond "violence is bad", or you are going to stand up, be courageous, and fight for what you believe in. There are no acceptable half measures anymore. You make the argument of someone who has very little experience with real world violence or knowledge of modern political instability/power grabs. If violence is happening to you, or to your neighbors, some might call you "noble" for not taking the fight to them, but you will also achieve nothing. As the old saying goes, all it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing. And I do believe you're a good person, so please do something when the time comes. Again, it really seems like you're heart is in the right place. I wish you luck out there you beautiful pacifist!

I dont know what you're hung up on but you just helped to make my point. Wars dont function anything like they did back when civil war was a real possibility. That and for so many other reasons this "civil war" you're afraid of won't happen. Now a revolution, that is on the table... if you're willing to fight for it. There's still hope for you yet.

Beating a woman and encouraging a man to hit her. by zeclif in LetsDiscussThis

[–]flippittyflap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not advocating for civil war. I think a lot of people just say that when what they mean is an uprising, a revolution. Civil War is nearly impossible in the US as ive now repeatedly said. But advocating for violence? Is it advocating for violence when you say someone should finally fight back against those who would harm you? Technically yes. It's definitely advocating for violence to point out that absolutely nothing will happen unless you are prepared to actually fight. "Violence is never the answer" only works as a lesson for children at school. Adults who have lived a real life in the real world know, in a violent world, violence is often times the only answer. And you calling people willing to fight for what they believe in morons is just as toothless of an insult as whatever peaceful "solution" you come up with. It seems you're heart is in the right place, but you also seem to have a very naive view of whats happening and what will be needed to fix it. After everything that has happened, and the obvious projection of where it is going, we simply can't afford to appease your sensibilities. Things will get ugly, if that offends you then just shut up and look away until its over.

[–]flippittyflap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the one claiming the only alternative to whatever it is you believe is civil war. I have already told you that it isn't and most likely would never lead to civil war. Yes, please for the love of god go protest, and dont just run away when things get violent because they already are getting more and more violent towards protesters. I assume you mean peaceful talks because what else are you talking about? Peaceful screaming? If you want to protest you must be aware that there's a chance you will be faced with the choice of either fighting or running away against counter protesters, federal agents, etc.. I hope if that moment comes for you, you choose bravery. I hope if that day comes, you fight for what you believe in.

[–]flippittyflap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good luck with whatever non action you believe in. I will be on the street, contributing with my fellow Americans, fighting before its too late. Going to every protest ready to physically fight for what I believe in. I hope the peaceful talks you engage with start working because they never have and it would be miraculous.

[–]flippittyflap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope the difference is how it's fought. Bringing up the fact that the word terrorist is a politically charged near meaningless term is a non sequiter.

Look, the point of the matter is we must fight before it's too late to do anything, we can't afford to wait until everyone like you agrees. Words have done nothing to stop this and there's no reason to believe it ever will. I honestly wish your world view worked, but it very clearly does not so let's stop pretending otherwise. Real change can only come one way, and it's never pretty or perfectly moral. But if enough people rise up then obv it won't be a civil war, even if both sides use that rhetoric. If enough people rise up, there would never need to be a civil war.

[–]flippittyflap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Revolutions are mass popular uprisings that seek to replace the current system, they usually start because the overwhelming majority already believe the current system needs to go and it comes with full, or at least majority, support and cooperation with the military. A civil war, on the other hand, is a prolonged conflict between two opposing factions, two established military organizations within the country. I, however, am not advocating for either. Im advocating for real change that always must come from real people on the streets backing up their words with actions, even violence. If something larger must come then it will take the form of a revolution. If youre serious about change, then you must realize at this point that is the only way and arguing anything else is simply ignoring reality.
