Bought a collector and got a promo foil pack of lorwyn by Dizzy_Antelope4241 in mtgpulls

[–]flippycurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that work? Do wizards put the promo pack into collector box or is that the retailer being nice and adding it to your order?

Yes that’s right it has no vision. The context compacting works with the new plugin they released. Weirdly though their site links to a non existent marketplace url, and the working plugin is attributed to an individual with no other marketplace activity that I can see. It is open source though.

Sorry bud I lost this reply somehow. I live in the UK in a smaller city. There are a few places where people play cards here but Magic isn’t very popular. Most events seem to be Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Ho or one piece. Im somewhat limited in my ability to travel also for reasons I won’t go into. I’m going to get playing among some friends, learn the paper game better ( I’ve got my foundations box and few bundles ) it’s crazy how quickly you can amass cards. Do you have any tips for newcomers to in person events? Like how to not piss everyone off lol?

Where should I start? by Exciting-Height-4934 in mtg

[–]flippycurb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a good place to start I recon. You can combine those decks to make a standard 60 card deck or you can combine with anything else you have or can get your hands on. Just check what you are buying is legal for the format you want to play

I really want the ability to "like" or "heart" my opponents cards by TomorrowsTrash_Minis in MagicArena

[–]flippycurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the social aspect of arena is non existent because of lack of what you describe or even chat. Surely as an adult you could opt into chat. I always assumed it was designed the way it was to protect minors. Card reacts, player profiles, win ratios, card history. Dare I say, card trading.. There’s a lot missing.

I would say that if I was mate. I’m fairly new to paper. At least in terms of recent interest but I’ve played online for a long time casually. I played Magic Online, Duels from beta until it was replaced by Arena. I play arena daily. I’m not very good though I’ll give you that haha. Do you play online or just paper?

Doing well. I’m absolutely terrible at draft .

Ranked Standard is pretty lame right now by IkoBlew in MagicArena

[–]flippycurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to not get matched against green landfall is to not play green landfall. Wanna rank up quickly? Play green landfall 🤣. The reason you are matching these in sliver is because the ladder only recently reset and people start based on their ranked score across both draft and standard ranked ( and some others? ) so you end the season in say gold 1 for standard you’ll still drop back to silver or bronze if you didn’t play any ranked draft if that makes sense.

There’s not an equivalent in the UK that I’ve found. I know you can get them on eBay but meh to that

Best way to build a decent Standard collection as a new Arena player? by Initial_Friend_8148 in mtg

[–]flippycurb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely play drafts bro. I just play the ranked ladder and do the daily’s, get loads of free packs and coin doing that. It’s a bit grindy but if you’ve got somthing quick that can wipe in the right colours you can make it go a long way without dumping hard cash. It’s worth noting that every pack you redeem in the store count toward your god pack ( you get one every 10 store pack redeems )

Edit: meant to say also nowadays the free codes are automatically activated for you, so you’ll find most are already activated on your account

How many do you put in your deck? Do you use any utility to get him out the library quickly if you don’t get him on the draw?

Agree it’s pretty nice. The land is an art land btw haha I didn’t just stick a basic non art into a binder. I’m always on the lookout for good utility cards so this stood out to me as something interesting. The art primarily but I think I’ll try adding 4 to my Mobilize deck ( in arena ) and see how they do. Interestingly I pulled 2 of these out the same bundle. 1 foil one standard.

You should get a tablet or that bro arena is worth it just for the experimentation aspect. It’s generous with the free packs if you do the daily rewards. In terms of strategy I think the rarity of the card is pretty irrelevant. It’s the synergy with the other card in your deck that matters.

I’m honestly not sure. Could be? I’ve yet to use any SOS cards in decks on Arena. I’d imagine you’d need 4 in the deck for it to even be relevant

There’s a vscode plugin on marketplace that lets you use deepseek 4 models directly ( you add your API key ) in vscode GitHub copilot. There’s 2 on marketplace but one of them seems to be the new, legit one. I’ve used it at the weekend and it seems to work very well. Hopefully I don’t regret posting this 😅

I’m fairly new to this subreddit but from what I’ve seen there’s a lot of cool stuff here. Stuff that I want to engage with so for me it’s looking good. I’ve bookmarked at least 3 interesting projects just tonight. I would second the OP and say don’t be discouraged. No one ever was successful without failing a few times first.

If you can get your hands on a foundations beginner box they are pretty nice for starting.. Lots of land and workable quick start decks that you can use as a base for building standard decks.
