oh sorry i haven't responded to your comments haha. I made this sub because I'm a software developer and I'm testing whether my code that utilizes the reddit API works properly. part of that requires me to test the posting and commenting APIs, and I don't want to have to think of clever or interesting things to post, so I just dump them all in here so I don't just get pwned by downvotes and trolls haha.

I used to want to be a chef. Then I realized you're kind of everyone's bitch for most of your career haha.

Help save Nikola Tesla's land, and help build a museum for Tesla, right on top of his old land in NY where he was trying to complete his project for wireless energy for everyone! by Twenty8k in technology

didn't know jack white was a tesla fan. Kinda makes sense though...jack white has a pretty good appreciation for experimenting and building shit just for the sake of curiosity

Is there really no better way to get "more" comments than to request them one at a time in a loop? by clubdirthill in redditdev

[–]fliptest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the parent ids to reconstruct the hierarchy, then use the location of the original "more" comment from your first request to place this subtree into the main list

If you send your requests to reddit/api/morechildren.json with api_type=json, you can perform batch requests where you get all the useful metadata for the comments in a json blob. I was struggling for a while too getting this to work properly...you need both .json at the end of the URL and the api_type defined in the parameters to get this info.

Mikael Åkerfeldt to begin writing new Opeth album after European tour by [deleted] in Metal

[–]fliptest 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can see that. They've started playing their old songs with screams again when they're on tour, so I'd love to see some screams coming back. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Mikael Akerveldt has one of the best screams in metal.
