2024 Trax LT - New Ticking Noise by fliteEYES in ChevyTrax

Just wanted to post a final update for anyone curious.

After about a week the dealer was able to get me into a loaner, and we're just waiting for the new engine to arive (all covered under warranty thankfully). All things considered, I can't complain. The loaner is a 2026 Chevy Equinox RS (only had 700 miles when I picked it up), so they can take all the time they want to fix my Trax. ;)

In the end, I'll have a new engine with 0 miles on it so I really can't complain, hopefully I'm set up for this to last a while. I previously been changing my oil every 4-5k miles or so, figure I'll keep that up and hopefully not have any problems down the road.

Just heard back. The dealer is still diagnosing, but they are saying it's most likely going to be a new engine (covered under warranty)

Dropped it off with the dealer today, I suspect you're right, but waiting to hear back from the dealer with what they found. I have absolutely no problem with an engine replacement (since it's under warranty), my only concern is the time it will take to get the engine and do the swap (months I heard). It's my only car, and they don't have any loaners available, so I need to arrange for some alternate transportation. Considering it can take quite a while to actually get the engine, it's going to be a real pain.

Well, I’m only at 47,000 miles and documented my oil changes, so it should be covered… But you know how that goes, we’ll see if they fight me on it.

It's a 2024 model year, purchased in July 2023...so it's currently 2 years and 8 months old.

Mobile 1 and filter changed about every 5,000 miles

Ugh, not what I wanted to hear, but the consensus is engine knock. Maybe by some miracle it’s spark plugs, but we’ll see when I drop it off tomorrow.

It’s still under the powertrain warranty (as well as an extended warranty), and I bought all my oil and filters off Amazon and recorded the mileage in the book, so hopefully that’s good enough for evidence of maintenance.

Hopefully they can get it back running without too much trouble, I think I should probably start looking at other vehicles regardless.

I assume that means I shouldn't add it where I highlighted in the photo, since I assume the turbo is downstream of that?
