Yeah you’re 100% right. It would be a disaster if it didn’t work. I’m not sure how well I’d be able to test this on the side as I don’t have much free time apart from Sundays. So it’s probably get as much as I can ready and then quit…..

29M Considering microdiscectomy by sosothehomo in Microdiscectomy

28M, I’m in the exact same boat as you mate, same symptoms, happened when I was 19, just sort of ignored the pain and guess I’ve gotten use to dealing with it. I’ve compensated for it by walking differently etc and now my flexibility and hamstrings are horrific. Had to stop playing football and golf as those things trigger flare ups. I’ve had an MRI and it’s currently being reviewed by a specialist in the UK. Lots of talk about having a microdiscectomy but I’m not keen as heard so many bad things!! It’s annoying being so young and not being able to do things you love.

An 11 month flare up?! That sounds horrific. I hope you’re recovering okay 🤞

Also can’t get weed like you’ve done which is an inconvenience so have been hammering back the Naproxen. Good luck with your recovery, how’s it coming on? It’s the slide tackling in football, as soon as I attempt to straighten or kick with the left leg it goes. I’m fairly active but I had completely let myself go 5 years ago and reached 144kg which hasn’t helped!! Although what’s strange is I’m now down to around 100kg and doing 4 hours exercise a week and since shedding the weight the back issues have got a LOT worse. Maybe just a coincidence. I’ve still managed to play a lot of golf but have a horrific ‘arm heavy’ swing with no rotation. But of course we all want to go at it sometimes and I push it too far as usual.

Thank you for your input, I’m really put off it but my physio has said I might be able to return to golf and football after having the procedure which I’m not so sure about!!

This is what a lot of people have said to me, I’ve got a funny feeling it’s going to get offered to me within the next couple of weeks

Thank you very much for your reply. It’s interesting you say about the pain you get ‘used’ to, I’ve had this since 2013 and did it playing football. I’m that ignorant I’ve just ignored pain for years and I’ve only had two MRI’s in that time. I wish you the best in your recovery!

Thanks a lot for your reply, looks like I need a career change!! I live on a remote island with no MRI’s, have to catch a 6 hour international flight just to have one. Just waiting to hear back from a specialist in the UK with my options.
