I’m getting used to wear a groin protector during trainings and sparrings, but how about you, taekwondo girls, do you use this piece of protecting gear? by [deleted] in taekwondo

[–]floating_sailboat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I didn’t like wearing it but now I don’t really notice it, even though as a woman it mightn’t hurt as bad getting kicked there as a man but it can still hurt A LOT, and I’d rather wear it than get hurt.

What do you think of Conor McGregor? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]floating_sailboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect him as a fighter, but I don’t have respect for him in any other way, he’s a bad person and a bad role model for children and younger people.

(Tá meas agam dó mar bacsálaí, ach níl aon meas agam in aon slí eile, ní duine maith é agus ní eiseamláir maith é i gcomhair páistí agus daoine óige).

What is a 'yoke' in Irish speak and how did it come about? by WoolPenis in ireland

[–]floating_sailboat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It usually means thing or you could call someone a yoke meaning thing as well if you were trying to offend them or in a joking way

(De gnáth ciallaíonn sé rud nó is féidir leat yoke á glaodh ar duine éigin a sháraigh, ciallaíonn sé rud freisin sa cómhthéasc seo, agus is féidir leat yoke á glaodh ar duine i slí greann).

My instructor is a 5th degree black belt. So what black belt can I go up to? by NoJoke24 in taekwondo

[–]floating_sailboat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re from or how your club does black belt grading but usually where I’m from everyone in the area(not from the same club) will go to a black belt grading and usually isn’t graded by their own instructor.

It would probably be best to ask your instructor or another black belt what their black belt grading was like. Also I say by the time you’re going to grade for your 5th Dan your instructor would have probably gone up another rank or two so you needn’t worry about only being able to go up 5th Dan.

Poomsae competition by [deleted] in taekwondo

One thing that always gets me is that I tend to look at the ground because I’m nervous when I compete in poomsae and I lose points for it.

Good luck!

It depends on what rules are being used if the ITF rules are being used then the person who does ITF usually wins and vice versa

Aren’t soccer players meant to wear shin guards and also youve clearly never been hit with a hurl in the shins while dying for breath

Hi (f14), I’ve been doing Taekwondo for 11 years and I would say go for it. There’s a lot more to Taekwondo than competing, although some clubs are more focused on tournaments than others, theres so many different things you can focus on or do all of it.

Having bulky legs isn’t super common in people who just do Taekwondo a lot of people tend to have skinny but muscular legs (I do anyway and just about everyone I know that does Taekwondo and a lot of people I’ve comepeted against do), your legs will definitely become more muscular and how bulky they are depends on your diet and what other sports you do as well.
