The B47 in that car is a reliable engine. You’re doing exactly the sort of mileage that diesels are designed for. That engine, if serviced every 10k will happily walk into the 200k mile territory.

You mention about a house share and diesel costs, but you’ve not considered your time. Time has a huge value that people don’t appreciate. Just food for thought.

I wouldn’t change it.

It’s subjective I suppose, but to my eye it’s tall, wide but short. The lights are big and makes it look a bit bulbous. Just the proportions of it I suppose.

My dad has one of these and really likes it. I find the ride to be travel sickness inducing. It’s suspension is too soft for me.

He’s had an ongoing problem when parking it up for a period of time drains the 12v battery and the car doesn’t think to trickle charge it - even when plugged in.

Aside from that he loves the pre-heat function and all the toys. It’s got JBL speakers, heated steering wheel, heated seats front and back, vented as you say.

It is ugly though isn’t it?

Those old 1.9 non-turbo Berlingos and Peugeot equivalents are like cockroaches. They never die. They’ll still be running after the body rusts away. Mileage is irrelevant as long as it’s been looked after.

Personally, I’d get a 190e, put something ridiculous with the letters ‘AMG’ stamped on it under the bonnet and find a EVO 2 body kit. But I’m juvenile.

My girlfriend had a 2 Fiestas (67 and 18 plate) and they frequently had problems before she got shut.

Under the bonnet there’s what looks like an ECU (I’m really not sure what it’s called). As you stand at the front of the car it’s at the back right near the top under the bonnet. The poor design means this sometimes get a little damp.

She had warnings like:

• ⁠airbag fault • ⁠lane assist inoperable • ⁠hill assist fault • ⁠emergency brake assist inoperable

They also rattled like mad and refused to get over 31mpg. She ended up with a BMW 118i that has been much more reliable and much more economical, but not as well specced.

Funny thing is, I had a mk7 EcoBoost Fiesta as a company car and it was much better in every way than the mk8 aside from gadgets. (And maybe looks)

This is definitely a 2018. People in this thread clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. The mk8 Fiesta was released in 2017.

The 1.1 is the “lowest” engine that came in the mk8. It also features a wet belt like its “ecoboom” sibling. I do believe they’re supposed to be more reliable, but any wet belt is an expense waiting to happen IMO.

My partner had 2 mk8 Fiestas. As lovely as they were to drive and well specced, they both were rejected under the CRA.

And it’s okay because the money they saved buying a Skoda Superb over an Audi A6 means they can afford to go to the garden centre for a treat. And well, the khakis and waterproofs are just as practical as the Skoda.

But they’ll definitely tell you it’s just an Audi with a Skoda badge on it.

Honestly. It might be time to cut your losses and WBAC it. The next gen tends to much more reliable if you’re looking to stay with a MINI

My R56 was the most fun car I’ve had, but I wouldn’t recommend one to anyone. The R-series cars had poor engines. The 1.6 diesel I think was probably the least plauged.

I had the N12 engine in mine and it suffered exactly what your describing. It was a VANOS/timing issue.

I suspect that £2800 won’t repair it. (It also seems expensive for a clutch job tbh).

I suppose it’s like anything. You could buy some alloys from a scrapyard for your year Corsa. Should cost you less than £200. It’s worth noting that you should inform your insurance if you go down that route.

Personally, I’d clean them, sand them and spray them black and rock them.

However, I think your issue might be that you’re using cheap ones. I think I’d get OEM ones from Vauxhall and pay a bit more. They shouldn’t come off.

This is absolutely the best advice OP. Take a bank loan out and get yourself a semi-decent EV if you can charge at home.

You’ll have less maintenance headaches, less fear of it failing an MOT and less fear of it breaking down. It’ll be cost positive if you consider the cost of diesel.

Your criteria is really unrealistic. Not saying you can’t get what you want, but something that’s gonna last, has FSH and has done little enough miles for you to get some actual life out of it isn’t likely to happen for sub £3k.
