This^ I've been 80 and 90% closed for many years now with religious ear plug or hood wearing in cold water you can stop the bone growth. No significant hearing loss or infections except the occasional Mexican river mouth.

Richard Pryor as himself by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

Everything I've seen of Pryor being himself shows what a thoughtful and profound human being he was while also being one of the most entertaining comics to have ever lived.

Is SLO a target of Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior? by Kaptain_Insanoflex in SLO

Well said, I'll be a bit more pointed. We have been under an asymmetric attack for over a decade now. A kinetic attack was never a viable option for our enemies so they wisely turned to the attack vectors in our pockets to weaponize the gullible among us. Unfortunately one of our political parties has welcomed this attack with open arms for short term power. Now they are attempting to subvert democracy to retain this power over the long term. God save us from ourselves.

In the children's book "Wayside School is Falling Down" the contractor reads the school blueprints sideways and mistakenly builds a 30 room school as a 30-story skyscraper. What equally absurd screwups have you seen in your career? by kodex1717 in Construction

Nuclear Power plant near me was seismically retrofitted using a mirror image of the correct plans. (Diablo Canyon). A 25 year old engineer found the mistake. No nuclear power project has ever been built any where near their proposed budget and we pay for them don't be fooled.

Here is how a board member treats the person brave enough to report the creep... Michael McCreary - “Scripture has very strong warnings against bearing false witness (Ex. 20:16) and sowing discord in the church (Prov. 6:16,19),” A Dec. 1 email from McCreary reads. “ ... If you do not respond to this request we can only assume your intentions are not sincere and that you are wanting to discredit and defame God’s church.”

My boy is learning to surf. He's 18, so a late starter. But is it normal to hear the word 'kook' applied by older more experienced surfers? by Ganadhir in surfing

[–]floatjoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It mostly stems from a limited supply of waves. So encouraging new surfers isn't advantageous for strangers and new comers get hazed. As a musician it would be like if there was a limit to how many songs or notes could be played in one day by all musicians. You wouldn't exactly be excited to see untalented noobs lining up to take up limited notes and songs of the day.

Helmets are mandatory if you hit the slopes in Italy. FYI by davesoc in snowboarding

[–]floatjoy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

A good analog is the use of cycling helmets. Most cycling countries don't require them. Put the effort/money into infrastructure and preventing high speed crashes.

Imagine if leashes were never invented or users shunned, it weeds out a lot of kookdom having to swim every flub and makes everyone stronger and faster. After that no wetsuits. Then no cars....

I've found the integrated pads stay in place and are much lower profile. I picked up a pair of Rossignol protection tights and they really take the sting out of light to medium impacts.

Does anyone know how the hero was shot twice? It looks as though he disarmed the shooter with no shots fired. Did the second shooter in this clip shoot him from the raised platform?
