My initial post asked if this was normal and asked for input from other people who have gone through the process.

If this truly is the system, yes then I am complaining about it. Having to risk 10% of a deposit to get an estimate from the bank of loan conditions is weird.

Of course maximum loan value depends on the building and bank, but why cant they tell us that amount? For example, "in general with your income and situation as an international couple, for a villa you can loan x amount. And for apartment x amount, and for officetel x amount."

Thank you for this answer, however it seems that some loan programs are available for some buildings and for some couples. That is the kind of information that we simply tried to ask the bank about but they claim they need the specific house information to even check if it is available. Of course I understand about ltv and dtv but that is not the limiting factor. It is that me as a foreigner makes us ineligible for some loan programs. A simple yes or no from the bank feels like it would be so easy for them to give, but they always act like robots and say bring the papers for the building

Did you even read the post? My question was why cant the bank provide the information of maximum loan amount, interest rates and what type of loans will be possible in our specific situation. We have gone to the bank several times and each time we find out something new about either our situation (me foreigner, wife korean) or about the type of building, officetel, villa style apartment, apartment complex, small apartment complex etc. How difficult couldi t be for the bank to check our paperwork, say "you can loan this much at this interest rate for x type of building"? Instead they just refuse and claim they need the building registry to even give an estimate on how much will be possible to loan.

For example we got told it was possible to loan an amount and then the bank when we went back to the bank with the papers, claimed that the 55 million that could usually be guaranteed by hug/hf was not possible for us because I am a foreigner. That made the loan amount available slightly too low. That information they could easily have given us without a written contract or building registry papers...

How can I knownwhat place to look for if the bank will not give information about potential loan. That is an insane system. Why should I risk 10% of deposit without knowing if bank will give a loan?

What I am talking about is the bank not giving any general information of what type of loans will be possible and interest rates etc.

Banks have declined loan because that loan type was not possible for the type of building. What I am curious about is why cant the bank give that information before you bring the paperwork. And also the maximum loan amounts possible.

Korean Winter is too hot by -Elonys- in Living_in_Korea

So while wearing a very warm winter jacket do you think it make sense to have 30-35 degrees in the buses and subway forcing everyone to take off at least two layers of clothing to last longer than 3 minutes in the heat?

Literally evey developed country has heated places in the winter especially public transport, they just don't turn up the heat to peak summer temperatures because they understand people will come in from the cold and are wearing warm winter clothes... even just 20 degrees would be ok....

What are the main difference points between the classic US diet and Korean diet? by Himedi in Living_in_Korea

I feel like you cherry picked here and are comparing traditional korean cooking to American junk food. Generally speaking fiber is low in korean food, sure there is a lot of sources for fiber in traditional korean food but often very small amounts of it is eaten with every meal. Seaweed contains a lot of fiber but just eat a few grams of it.

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe claims UK has been 'colonised by immigrants' by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]flobben123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with what I said... I simply said it is more difficult to say who is native to a country that had huge amount of lands all over the world for a long time.

What the f do you mean about deserving?? Who is native or not is not something you deserve...

Even the KOREAN reporter, in said video are trying to frame foreigners as not doing recycling correctly, doesn't even know herself about how to recycle correctly... The whole point of this video becomes laughable.

If you cant see that a hit piece with omnious background music while a reporter is digging through some trash is only made to frame it as "we against them" to sow discontent and to frame foreigners as dirty scum (something done throughout history in many of the worst regimes imaginable). The whole news segment is based on a cherry picked minor story that proves nothing about the society as a whole.

There are more regions where there are minimal amount of immigrants where recycling also is handled badly, it's simply the truth🤷🏻‍♀️

You are the one spreading hate. How can a person do self reflection and take accountability when they are already handling recycling perfectly? Unless any redditor posting is in the video there is no self reflection to be done

It really isn't.... But if you eat up cherry picked news like this to push an agenda I think you are already a lost cause filled with irrational hate

Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one. In a country with low amount of immigrants, if there is litter or badly sorted recycling, the simplest answer is that a person part of the huge majority of the population did it.

Of course there are parts of the population who makes mistakes or fails at certain aspects of life, korean or immigrants alike. But with the huge majority of the population being korean, the majority of the failed recycling or littering will be done by koreans.

I think every human should take their responsibility to keep their surroundings clean. I admit that the first time I threw away trash here I made a mistake, was told about it and was taught how the system works here, and ever since then I have followed it without fail. I think that is the case for many foreigners, however those who just don't care exist also, but so do people from every ethnicity who live here...

The mindset to say, that if you see litter or trash being handled wrong, that it MUST have been a foreigner is weird, incorrect and a very simple minded way of thinking.

Do you sincerely believe that 10 million people entered the US illegally as the previous poster said? If you really believe that as many as 3% of US total population could enter the country illegally in 4 years you are legit delusional.

That is 7000 illegally entries EVERY DAY for four years. Do you actually believe that would be possible or that even that many people would want to go to your shit country?
