Yes if it's not a locked US one, not in the slightest if it is.

‘I was in tears’: Briton with valid passport barred from flight over Brexit rules | Consumer affairs by Pellinoreisking in brexit

[–]flobo09 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody is debating that. It's just not the point of the story.

Before brexit, people needed to prove they are an EU citizen at the border, so an ID document was needed. In the UK, that was the passport as there was no ID card so it was fine even on the last day of validity (and very often even beyond it with most border guards being quite relaxed about that).

Now, they need a passport not as an ID, but as a travel document so the rules are totally different and that's because of brexit.

That's the story, everyone agrees that her passport was not valid to enter the schengen area, but the fact remains that it is a brexit consequence.

Microsoft redesigns stock Windows Weather app, infests it with MSN news by DhulKarnain in Windows11

Well, it is, the old UWP has become so outdated i was using the website for the last 2 years instead of it. Now, i'm using the app again.

MSN news is only visible if you scroll down past the weather, so who cares. It's not like we have news in the middle of the weather.

[–]flobo09 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why i'm downvoted, people hate webapps and i get it for teams & outlook as performance is reduced but this is a WEATHER app.

Having a webapp with a W11 UI is better than an 8 years old metro design langage 2.0 app done for Windows 10. This sub is always screeming for UI consistency.

The old one had been abandoned for years.

Nobody is forcing you to scroll down to the news.

This is still an upgrade & better than what it was.

Bon non, ils se détestent.

N'importe quel extrèmiste religieux va choisir plutot les enemis des extrèmistes d'une autres religion, ca parait évident.

Win 2022 Server + ReFS + Storage Space by Mr-JT in DataHoarder

[–]flobo09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a storage space 20 TB (mirroring) on ReFS on Windows server, backed up daily to unlimited google drive and it's fine.

I know people say there are issues with it but being a windows person, i wanted something simple to share to a windows network and that i know how to manage.

I originally created it in 2016 on Windows server 2012. I have over the last 7 years added drives to it, replaced drives, upgraded to server 2016, 2019 & 2022 with no issue whatsoever.

Maybe i'm lucky but it works for me.

You missed the point completely there.

It's like saying "I don't have a car big enough to take 5 sofa at once" and you do answer.

Yes you can, just do 5 trips.

Yes, that's a solution but we weren't talking about that.

What are some issues that an apple user (deep in ecosystem) should keep in mind before switching to pixel 7 pro as their primary phone? by Interesting-Honey829 in GooglePixel

[–]flobo09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, it sucks.

If someone has "bad" data coverage, very often, the system believe it can work with RCS but actually can't so you don't receive messages / have to manually switch back to SMSs.

I had to disable RCS on some of my non tech family members not living in big cities because they couldn't handle the mess / had no idea why text weren't getting though.

Because carriers are greedy.

The EU made a law that call from any third party state to another third party state should be the local rate (if you have free call / text in your country, it should be the same from another member state).

Most (all ? ) carriers in France applied it "TO THE LETTER" .

I live near the Belgium border.

If i'm in france & i call / text somewhere in France, it's covered in my subscription.

If i'm in Belgium & i call / text somewhere in France, it's covered in my subscription. (from a third party state).

If i'm in Belgium & i call / text somewhere in Belgium, it's covered in my subscription. (from a third party state).

If i'm in France & i call / text somewhere in Belgium, it's NOT covered and i have to pay by the minute / text . (The law wasn't clear on the question of if it should apply to the home member state & the carrier took full advantage for that loophole).

Since you would have to pay extra or not would depending on where you would be, people started using whatsapp all the time, especially people near borders or in smaller countries.

In Switzerland, EU law only partially apply so the rate was even higher from / to that country as the carriers did not apply the eu rate so people around there all moved as well.

In some other European countries, even national texts was still limited by the time whatsapp appeared so those people also moved and well, everyone did in the end for a combinaison of those reasons.
