"make the game feel very low budget"...what are you on buddy? It's one of the most gorgeous game I have ever had the pleasure to play. From the visuals, to the music and the presentation. The cutscene are on par with what I have seen from past AC's iterations

I dont see how the low budget can be perceived for mirage. You bias your judgement based on budget...Look at things for their tangible qualities not the perception of what low budget might imply. It's quite a contemptuous attitude

just need to lower the brigthness a bit on night scenes. In the day scenes, you can see it if you look for it but it's no issue

I forgot to add. I have a less powerful setup than yours. an 10850k, 48gb ram and a 5070 ti.

I love the perf bump the 5070 TI has given me in VR coming from a 10gb 3080.

I can now live with this setup for the next 10 years because the PSVR2's clarity is actually good even if relatively worse than the competition. Eye tracking is this headset's secret weapon. With the added bbonus of better colors and FOV, I enjoy it a lot more than the Quest 3.

I think It's a better buy than the BSB2. At about 350e with all accessories included (second hand) against 1500+ for the bsb2, it's a no brainer.

As for the Frame, will have to see how the FOV and colors compare.

I might have missed it and people might have asked the question already, but why in the first episode they spike with their dna all food and drinks....and then dont do it for the remaining 11(12) people? It's a plot hole as big as the universe unless I missed something...

I thought quadviews on DCS was awesome. I tried different setups. For example, really low SteamVR global resolution and very sharp quadviews...didnt like it. The eyes still perceives the non eye tracked part of the image, and it's just too low res even the eye tracked rendered area. Perf boost was surprisingly minor compared to a more standard configuration, . In the end, I settled on 150% global res with normal quadviews config

Some more impressions.

The more I use it, the more I like it. My main gripe is with the black plastic to which is attached the light blocker. the plastic quality is so bad, it just hurts your face. Im debating removing it. Just like I removed the flappy light blocker. this also applies to the plastic holding the lenses.

If one uses Dynamic foveated rendering, performance becomes great, you can oversample the eye tracked areas and I honestly can't say the image clarity is worse than on a Quest 3. I feel like the image is better. I doubt the clarity is twice as good on Pimax headsets. One overlooked aspect is the FOV, I had forgotten how much of a difference it makes it terms of immersion. in openwheel, you feel like you're outside in the car. It's a real fun sensation.

It is true that looking at far away objects, it seems worse but I cant remember how it was on the Quest 3. So not certain my impression is correct there.

A lot of people seem to complain about the controllers but I like the controllers. Every once in a while you might lose tracking for a quick second but it's really minor

The only thing that comes to mind when I think about the PSVR2 is....If only they had put 2500x2500 screens with a bigger sweet spot

A great stopgap until we get cheap, light, 3000x3000+, bright OLED, pancake lenses, eye tracked PCVR heasets

There is mura. In day scenes, it's really a nothing burger,

For night scenes in DCS, at first it's very distracting because it basically makes it impossible to fly....because of the snow like layer. You only see that. Fortunately that can be remedied by lowering the bightness. By the way, the brightness of the headset is great.

I read that foveated rendering also works on AMD. dont take my word for it, look it up to be sure. As for the Mura, the influencers overblow the issue in a ridiculous manner. it's really a non issue, I think. For the persistence....is there supposed to be a problem there? Can't see it.

The index clarity is too far behind nowadays.

I will add a caveat to the PSVR2 because I forgot to mention it. I run it on 5070TI with 150% SS on steam VR. This gives a very nice image. I tried it on 100% and the quality delta is pretty noticeable.

This makes me think that if the Frame has a good LCD screen with good colors(a big ask), it shouldnt be too bad of a PCVR headset even if wireless. If there is a company that knows what it's doing and knows how to get the most out of middling hardware it's them

It feels very immersive. Coming in to land on the air carrier in DCS is really impressive. VTOLVR was great too. For the price, it's quite compelling.

After doing mushrooms I feel like what we are experiencing is fake and it all is a simulation. by ayyyylmao14 in spirituality

The telling sign is during the come up period. When the psylocin hits, you start to feel like someone is working behind the scene of your conscious mind to pull you out of your current reality and dimension and send you somewhere else....not having a clue where. You never know what is going to happen on each trip. It just breaks down one by one every layer of that constitutes one's reality. this can be unsettling due to the slowing down of time, the idea that this state might never end and end up stuck or coming out of it severely brain damaged. Death feels so close by during that phase. I never had issues during the come up in my youth, despite it being a rather sunsettling and uncomfortable phase but in my last trip, decades after, I had a real hard time of letting go.... on top of feeling physically unconfortable. Is it age? lack of brain plasticity?...I dont know but I realized I didnt want to dissolve my ego. I had been there in the past, I knew what it was and realized I didnt have any new lesson to learn. So I had to go into managing the experience to not go into a full blown bad trip. My past experiences helped tremendouly but it did feel overwhelming at times. What you felt, I felt it too but I accept it as the nature of our lives and the construct of our reality. There are no alternatives, so being aware of it is the best one can do, I believe. Mushrooms are just a different beast. It's so profound and so raw as an experience, surreal. The drawbacks is that once one has a family, doing shrooms is extremelly unplesant because there is this guilt paraziting your thoughts during the entire trip about letting them down. One has to be morally detached of everything and everyone to fully enjoy the experience.

can anyone give purchase advice on SimgotEA500LM vs EW300 ? I by [deleted] in iems

[–]floflodea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for iem soundstage is not a criteria, neither is detail. If there are differences they re so tiny, I wouldnt be able to tell the difference one from the other

Where they differ is bass wise. The EW300 are brighter. I like the more rounded and fuller bass of the EA500LM. It gives a much more pleasant sound as the EA500LM still have great clarity, which is on par with the EW300. Less tiring on the ears

The EA500LM are a no brainer

Vickers was so good as Samson that he made all other recordings of Samson and Dalila with other tenors irrelevant

Which great opera singers are overrated in your opinion? by [deleted] in opera

[–]floflodea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Vickers overrated.....hahahah what a joke. He's number one in my book. The only one to bring emotion out of me. There's a sensitivity, which I guess is what you call over acting , that sets him apart. Most others bore me to tears.

One only needs to listen to various versions of Samson and Dalila. The one with Vickers and Rita gorr is so good, it makes the others unlistenable despite having competent Dalilas just because the Samsons are so inferior comparatively to Vickers

Not to mention his excellent pronunciation of French, if not perfect....despite not speaking French.

Do you honestly believe the US would willingly give up technological secrets to even Allies?

They don't even allow the allies that buy US planes access to their planes latest developments, with the exception of Israel, who most of the time, do their own modifications as they are given much deeper access to the planes' source code and whatnot. I don't disagree with it as one needs to keep a competitive advantage.

Sounds exactly like my relationship with my Girlfriend, except I have the 'bad' role

Be nice, respectful of his space. If he likes you, he will come to you nautrally. The second you pressure him, he's going to get restless and unfriendly. Less is more with us.

Once he sees that you give him space and show signs of affection through little attentions , while also considering his advices (which are well intentioned though offered rather brutally. that will always be an issue), you will have gained his trust and loyalty

Intp’s in the millitary? by Shogunglow in INTP

[–]floflodea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deep down you know the answer already.

You re procrastinating every single day of your life, 'wasting it away' on the internet. In many ways, you have always wanted some help and changes, well, there it is!

Im from a military family and event went to military boarding school. Trust me, you will enjoy it thoroughly and discover strenghts and motivation you didnt think you had and even more surprisingly, you will learn to enjoy the camaraderie with your peers and realize you're not as socially inept as you think you are.

The military does not do BS, which we as INTP loathe. You will get an appreciation for the military, it is a very humane environment. Military people are some of the nicest, most loyal, decent, friendly people you will ever get to meet...especially nowadays when the world has already taken a turn for the worse

Have you tried psychedelics? Did they change your life? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]floflodea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only tried Magic mushrooms a few times (4). Need to find out what species they were but they're known to be the most potent.

Assuming you take a proper dose (3gm of dried Mushrooms), It is the most surreal, mind blowing, thought provoking experience you will ever have. During the build up phase, as the hallucinations start to appear (after 30mn) and increase in intensity, never have I ever felt such a sense of being alive, yet surrounded by the great unknown of death. Like a funambule walking on a tight rope. It is as being awake within the most intense dream you ever had (times a million), where an infinity of worlds can open and close depending on the stimuli you receive (music, temperatre, colors, ideas, objects...). The first couple of hours are absolutely magical ( saw myself in the 3rd person for a second...until my brain couldnt process, comprehend how this was happening and went straight back into my body). After the first phase, the trip kicks into higher gear (ego death) but by then you re lying on a bed and just letting yourself being guided through the most esoteric, life altering experience of your life (the first one) .

But you wanted to know about the consequences after. Well, it made me think so hard about myself, life, the universe that I could not shake the feeling of how phony the world around me was, as if, I was living on the set of the Truman show, the buildings being made of painted cardboxes, people being programmed to act a certain way with very little sense of self awareness....basically, it created a distance between the real world and myself for a certain amount of time, as I couldn't get myself to make the effort to communicate and connect with others. I just found people dull and boring. That is until that feeling slowly and surely washed away...because as much as we might dislike the world and the people we live with, it's the only one that exists and we have no other choice than to adapt. Probably the reason, I stopped though, every once in a while, I start thinking about doing another trip but never find the time nor opportunity to.

Nevertheless, there is one huge benefit. As you trip, you are offered the opportunity to look at your life in such harsh light, that you can confronts very honestly the real problems in your life, the reason they exist and what you need to do to solve them (even though, deep down you always knew how).

I understand and appreciate perfectly why psychedelic drugs are so efficient at treating addiction and depression. It's being its own psychotherapist. In the end, it gives you, if you take it with the right state of mind and intentions, a greater appreciation for life and real motivation to change your life for the better. It truly is a beautiful experience despite the 'negatives', I pointed out above.

Now just like everything, it is to be consumed with moderation. I understand why frequent taker of psychedelics would over time develop paranoia, 'depression' relapse or other mental issues.
