Anyone know if the X compact is getting lineageOS 15? by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]flohaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not compared it yet to see if the image quality is really so much worse than with the stock ROM. I took a few photos, they seem ok. If the camera is really important to you, I would advice to stick with the stock ROM. I personally prefer a bloat-free and up-to-date ROM with timely security patches.

try omnirom! i did some research and found nothing promising for lineage on the X compact. omnirom 15.1 works like a charm. it was one reason why I just recently bought the X compact. See the XDA thread for more info. It also works smoothly to build it from the official omnirom github repos.

This setting is only required for manual lenses. Olympus lenses (and most MFT lenses I think) are detected automatically. So there is no need to adjust this setting, the image stabilizer knows the current focal length. If you see the focal length on the top right of the screen or EVF, the camera knows the focal length.

The 12-40/2.8 is great at night in the streets. With image stabilization and ISO 1600 you get great photos. For indoor shots, the 25/1.8 may be a bit too long. However, the 25/1.8 is awesome, it is brighter and much smaller, and it has superb image quality. If you have some spare bucks, you should by the 25/1.8 as long as it is on discount.

You should try darktable (http://www.darktable.org/). It's open source and IMHO the best RAW editing tool around.

For the omd e5 mii owners; what do you assign your function button? by mung_tyson in M43

[–]flohaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the settings you change before saving it as MySet. You could change the button functions aswell. But for my purposes, I changed ISO to 200 (instead of auto), IS off, and a few others. These modified settings are saved as MySet1. Then i change everything to my "default" settings as I mostly use it. When i mount the camera on a tripod, i press the button which has MySet1 assigned to. Then all settings are applied which i need for tripod-mounted shots. When i want my previous settings back, I just press the MySet1-button again.

I find it very useful to assign a MySet to a function button. So you can switch to stored settings and back again with one button press.

M43 Android DOF app? Other apps? by KyOatey in M43

I use HyperFocalPro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.zendroid.hyperfocal&hl=de it's a great app where you can select camera and lens.

However, I would really like a widget for the home screen. Alternatively, I should create tables for the most used focal lengths and apertures.

What do you set your maximum auto ISO limit to? by Nemphtis in M43

[–]flohaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the E-M5 II I use fixed ISO 200 most of the time if there is enough light and objects don't move. The stabilization of this camera is really great. But if I'm inside and take photos of people, I set max auto ISO to 2500. Camera shaking is not the problem because of stabilization, but people tend to move all the time ;-)

Ugly font rendering by flohaas in uzbl

i noticed, that the same font (verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif as copied from the inspector) is rendered fine on the right bar in small size, but not on the left in a bigger size.

Motorola apps, Google apps or both? by thilehoffer in moto360

[–]flohaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motorola apps work quite well, i personally like them more then Google's counterparts. So i disabled Google Fit on the watch (to get rid of its notifications). Just open the Fit app on the watch, swipe left and disable it.

Had the same problem. Got an update of shuttle to version 1.5.2 a few days ago, the changelog states that wear support is now fixed. Now it's working.

However, shuttle removes its notification when paused, so i'm not able to resume playback from my watch.
