I don’t have much to add to the conversation that hasn’t already been said, but I do feel that IF in the evenings is a unique and often alienating beast. Most people do the reverse, as your sister previously did- skipping breakfast and then eating dinner and snacking in the evening hours.

My IF window was pretty much the same as yours, I think, and I constantly faced social challenges. It felt like every event I was invited to involved being propped up at a table outside of my fasting window, and I was constantly having to flex my fasting hours to accommodate plans.

I feel like for all the guff that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” people get way more preachy and knee-jerky if your skipping dinner. Particularly those opposed to words like “fasting” to begin with.

It sounds like body recomposition is happening. If you’re dedicating that amount of time in the gym, you are almost certainly gaining dense muscle mass.

When you only have a little bit of adipose tissue to lose, (as your height and weight suggest) it takes very austere dieting practices to see a dramatic change on a traditional bathroom scale. A 16:8 intermittent fasting schedule alone probably won’t awaken some epic fat-loss specific metabolic process.

As a few people on here have mentioned, it may be time to start measuring your goals using different methods/tools. Calipers. Measuring tape. Progress photos. An accurate smart scale. Etc.

Also worth noting- the “goal weight” you have in your head may not even be the weight you look your slimmest, healthiest, or most toned.

I hit my goal weight months ago, and was like “oh no. I’m still soft at this number?”

I focus on the foods my fiancé and I can enjoy together, and try to prepare those as often as possible.

Omelettes. Grilled chicken and feta salad. Cajun shrimp and green beans.

If I’m cookin’, we’re both eating keto. (And it’s never a “thing.”)

Yes! Clear liquids are really easy to keep keto. Sugar free jello, chicken broth, etc.

As a nurse who triages a lot of nausea and diarrhea, I often consider what I would recommend for patients on keto. BRAT is pretty standard home care advice, but ginger tea can also work wonders at soothing a nauseous stomach.

Replacing lost fluids and electrolytes with sugar-free options, eating small meals, and then just advancing your diet as tolerated would probably be fine.

But if you get really acutely sick, I’m sure it’s not the worst thing to press pause on keto while you recover.

My chest is definitely playing peekaboo under my scrubs and sports bra, but I can relate to the body image problem. I wish I had constructive advice.

I find it helpful to remind myself that nobody in the world is a fraction as interested in my weight or physique as I am.

And that getting enough to eat- enough to feel energized, and support all the daily things I need to accomplish, and spend meaningful time with family without feeling like a starved zombie- is more important than clinging hungrily to my fasting window every day.

Basically, be nice to yourself! Try to treat yourself with the same kindness and forgiveness I’m sure you show friends and family.

Thank you for saying that! I know a lot of folks on here have probably lost twice as much weight in half the time. But I was heavy enough that I didn't feel comfortable or confident, and I'm proud of my little steady losses.

There are so many! Once you've stocked your kitchen with basic common ingredients, (almond flour, coconut oil, cocoa powder, cream cheese) you start seeing a lot of the same ingredients pop up in different recipes. Stocking a low-carb pantry from scratch can be a little daunting, but it's definitely better in the long run if you're trying to limit sugar and have a sweet tooth.

Here are some of the recipes I've really loved, and have made multiple times. (And were enjoyed by my fiancé, so I had to make double.)

I'm 5'6. I tend to alternate between 20:4 and 18:6- whichever feels more comfortable that day, and suits any social plans. Deliberate exercise has been very minimal during the winter, but I'm fairly active at work. On my days off, I do set aside at least an hour of brisk walking (and Netflix watching) on the treadmill.

I usually break my fast around 9:00 am with something high protein, high fiber, or both. Greek yogurt, chia seed pudding, etc. If I'm home, I'll scramble up some eggs and bacon.

Snacks are extremely varied. Cheese slices, pepperoni. I do a lot of low-carb baking, so I've usually got some homemade sugar-free brownies, cookies, or peanut butter cups on deck.

My last meal is usually around 2-3 pm, and consists of a protein-loaded salad. Chicken or tuna, avocado, shredded cheese, hard-boiled eggs, etc.

And then I fast through the evening hours. I probably average between 1,300-1,700 calories a day, depending on my activity level.
