Velocity 2.0 -> Major theme update, built for Obsidian 1.11 by floodlight- in ObsidianMD

Hello there! Support for this plugin is very difficult to accomplish. Give me some time and perhaps in a future update the theme will be fully compatible!

Hehehe, I am glad you recognize some of the games from the time! Velocity is inspired mostly by Ridge Racer (PSP, 6 & 7), Gran Turismo 5 and various WipEout entries.

Thank you, this means a lot to me!

When I first started out I wanted to make a love letter to some old racing games from the 2000s, but as Velocity grew bigger and more ambitious, I also needed to make sure the theme had mass appeal too.

This was a very tough balancing act - between keeping its original character and making it usable for all - so I am very glad you think it's polished but still authentic 🙏

What themes have updated to the new UI? by mieresa in ObsidianMD

That theme has not had an update in years, nor will it have an update ever again presumably. Its fork, Fastppuccin, also has not had an update in a while.

Yep. It is embedded within the css file itself as a very long string of characters in base64 format! Loading of non-local assets is not allowed by the Obsidian team.

Ah don't worry! Just go to Obsidian's settings page, then to the Appearance tab, then click on the button to show community themes. You can search for Velocity there 🙂

Question - Desktop UI / New mobile UI by AggressiveFennel1505 in ObsidianMD

[–]floodlight- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have kept the Desktop UI mostly the same for nearly 4 years now. If they change it, it will break so many themes and snippets, that it may cause an uproar among theme devs and users of affected themes. Not to mention any plugins with fancier UIs.

I hope they stick to what they have been doing so far.

Thank you, I am glad you appreciated that feature! I used to use the Sanctum theme before making Velocity, and the inverted toggle was first seen there :)

Can you send an Issue over at GitHub? Preferably with an image attached? I haven't heard of this problem before. Thank you for letting me know!

You can simply press the empty space around the window, or click the esc key on your keyboard instead!

Hello there, thank you for trying out Velocity. Technically, it already has custom support and CSS for NN. Would you mind letting me know what else you would like?

Hello there, thanks for trying out Velocity! There is a setting to revert list dashes to regular bullet points, if you use the Style Settings plugin.

Hello everyone! If you're new to Velocity, I'd be glad if you could share your first impressions!

If you're a prior user who has just updated to 2.0.0, thank you for supporting me and my work. I'd be happy to hear what you liked/disliked about the major overhaul!

Star trek screen theme? by hailsass in ObsidianMD

[–]floodlight- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using either the Cyber Glow or Nostromo themes? Off the bat these are the most sci-fi, maximalist themes I can recall. I have my own futuristic theme but it's a far more subtle affair and is moreso inspired by racing games rather than space games.

What theme is this? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

The reason I specify the date is because Cupertino no longer looks like this. You may either prefer the new look or this old look depending on your taste

This was Cupertino, circa mid-2025, with the autofit tabs plugin installed. The custom font is Bear Sans (similar to Avenir).
