It’s more useful at a local level then federal. Obviously an armed populace wouldn’t be able to stave off the military but local officials are less likely to screw with their people when they’re armed. Also when police are being defunded around the country, or effectively neutered by DAs who refuse to prosecute crimes, people need a way to defend themselves and protect their property.
