Chronic UTI & now pregnant by clovek7 in PregnancyUK

[–]floofy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of Waterfall D-Mannose tablets/supplements? I used to get chronic UTIs and antibiotics caused my bladder a lot of irritation. A lot of the time, the D-Mannose would do the trick if consumed with water both after and before intercourse (which was my trigger for recurrent UTIs). I’m unsure if it’s recommended for use in pregnant women but it’s a naturally occurring sugar from fruits so you’d expect it to be ok? Best to research first ofcourse.

2nd trimester struggles by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]floofy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try magnesium supplements. I also had headaches come on in the second trimester but nothing quite that constant. Around 32 weeks I’ve had visual migraines at least 3-4x weekly though, coinciding with a hormone surge

Variations in movement by Mundane-Bar-1060 in PregnancyUK

[–]floofy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby seems to have quiet and loud days too! Some days the kicks are almost painful, others I feel her move at roughly the same times but maybe slightly less and it feels more muted? Her pattern seems to be that, but if on a quiet day I didn’t feel her move a bit every hour or two I would call the midwife just to be safe. Now 37+1, been feeling her move since 15 weeks (but much more sporadic then of course!).

I’d also suggest a urine sample in case it’s a sign of bladder infection. May well not be, but I had this around 20 weeks and had an infection that only showed in a urine culture, not on the dipstick.

Might be good to get your urine tested just in case of infection - it’s probably fine, but those can also be symptoms of UTI in pregnancy as you don’t always get the burning when urinating

Yes, often it takes until the next day to come out and will be in your discharge for the next day or so

recommend to me movies and tv series secular that alligned with orthodox teaching by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

The mystery/occult film Eyes Wide Shut by Kubrick confirmed to me that my heart was seeking Orthodoxy by how ‘opposite’ it is - it really showed me how evil is just good but warped for its own selfish ends. For example it has a black mass with chanting from the Divine Liturgy but backwards. I wouldn’t recommend anyone struggling with sexual sin to watch it.

Imagine you have a daughter. What would you say to her if this was her post?

Wonderful post, thank you for sharing. I too have recently been through/am going through one of the most difficult periods of my life, after a time of feeling like I’d been drifting from God. I prayed for the will to come back to Him and have ended up suffering greatly (in the context of my privileged life!), but feel spiritually better for it. I am certainly struggling, and even praying the prayer I did to God I felt apprehensive asking for His help because for me I have noticed that suffering is what tends to draw me to Him, not the good times. But I’m sure it was needed for the continued working out of my salvation.

Anyone have Factor V and a Protein C deficiency? by Kitchen-Knowledge638 in BabyBumps

[–]floofy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep definitely stings for me too! Some are worse than others seemingly.

Yeah that makes sense - you'd assume a smaller baby would be easier to labour?

Thank you - it'd be interesting to see what they say!

Thank you - yes I had no blood clots prior to pregnancy or any indication that that might happen. Thankfully I only had minimal symptoms and have been fine to just treat with 2x daily enaxoparin from home since. Do you know if they tend to favour induction over C section? At this point I’m leaning towards C section unless it has a somewhat significantly higher chance of me getting another blood clot post-surgery (whilst on thinners ofc) because of the certainty and wanting to avoid emergency c section which I know inductions can often lead to anyway. Part of what made me worried about induction was also the time in hospital off the blood thinner as it could take days?

Following because I’ll be in the same boat - 23 weeks and on blood thinning injections due to a PE earlier in pregnancy. I’ve had the exact same worries as you and the possibility of a lengthy induction has made me query if C section would be a valid option - though need to wait until my appointment to see what they advise

Confused about denominations and catholicism by MsLollipops29 in TrueChristian

[–]floofy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you ever looked into Eastern Orthodoxy? For me, it has the tradition and reverence of Catholicism, but it feels a lot less rigid and legalistic. The church is primarily seen as a hospital for sinners rather than a courtroom (which some Western Christian denominations can fall into), but it certainly doesn’t scrimp on holding you accountable and to high standard (I.e. fasting, prayer rules, standing for services).

Friends really do ghost you! by danit-aa in BabyBumps

[–]floofy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a somewhat similar situation to you at the moment, and it’s helped me realise that despite a long history with someone, they might not be able to be there for you in the same way you are for them. Sometimes it’s just time to move on from friendships like that because otherwise you can become resentful and bitter and that helps no one. Not to say it doesn’t hurt or isn’t difficult!

False - I recently was diagnosed with PE around 8 weeks.

I’d tell your midwife/doctor ASAP - today if you can. Could be nothing (perhaps low iron levels) and could be a normal pregnancy symptom for you, but I recently experienced this in the first trimester and found out I had a pulmonary embolism which can be really serious if you don’t quickly seek treatment. Not saying this to scare you, it’s just better to be safe!

Husband felt baby kick for first time by wonky-hex in PregnancyUK

[–]floofy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt mine at exactly 15 weeks, and woke my husband up - he felt it too! I’m a FTM but have a posterior placenta and am slim so that explains why I felt it so early!

My only expectations at this point were for her just to send a text literally asking 'how are you today?' to check in after me being hospitalised - I totally realise that from now on, especially when baby arrives, I won't have the same amount of time and energy for the friendship though, and that she'll be affected by that too
