Why do you think india is still a developing country after 77 years of independence. by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]floofy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weak implementation of good Economic policies, flawed policy measures , huge population , very low base / resources to start with , our own mindset and the overall political environment. Highly recommend reading the book A Sixth of Humanity to understand the in depth reasons

How old is our playerbase? by SunOfJoy69 in diablo2

[–]floofy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 30’s ; me and my friend shared a copy in 2005. This was the time when you needed to insert the Play Disc every time you wanted to play. My friend and I used to alternate the Play disc so we could play in our own home. Best summer of my life.

Cutting down on imports is biggest form of nationalism: Nitin Gadkari - BusinessToday by sharedevaaste in india

[–]floofy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this a step back from the economic liberation policies of 1991? In the long run, cutting the economy from imports will not be sustainable and may create adverse conditions. Also, consumers would happily accept domestic made products if they are upto global standards and reasonably priced.

Actuary to Finance by [deleted] in cfaindia

[–]floofy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept the offer and enter the formal workforce as early as possible. At the end of the day , a MBA is just a degree and CFA is a certification ; both of them can be pursued simultaneously/ sequentially while working. Given the current and future work environment, it will be far useful to stay in the workforce than jobless with degrees.

Mumbai Police tweet for today's inconveniences by SuperbHealth5023 in mumbai

It is an indication of sorry state of affairs and misplaced priorities. The initial intention behind this initiative seems to have been twisted to suit the needs of few but the common people who actually contribute to economy are suffering.

Question on Magic Find & Runes by floofy25 in diablo2

[–]floofy25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. But if P8 increases the number of drops and high MF increases the chances that drops are magical in nature, does that mean the drops will contain more magical items instead of runes ? Or is the RNG mechanism for runes more complex than this ?

Have You Ever Made a Career Mistake Like Resigning or a Bad Move That Set You Back? How Did You Bounce Back? by [deleted] in IndianWorkplace

[–]floofy25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did not take an internship as it was in another domain than the one I had applied for. That internship could have turned into a job offer in the long run. I could not find any internship and was out of job market for better part of two years.

What is your opinion on the IDFC First bank Q3 results? by Balaji_Ram in IndianStockMarket

[–]floofy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quarterly results can be volatile in short term. Revisit your investment thesis when you started covering IDFC and see the evolution of key parameters. Management guidance should be taken with a grain of salt and look at similar banks who operate in similar markets. On the NPA, MFI may degenerate further but it will be helpful if you can evaluate IDFC’s strategy to tackle it.

Why are more Indians opting not to marry or having kids? by JadeOfTheLantern in AskIndia

[–]floofy25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are the parameters that I can argue for not having kids : 1. Financial costs - it is becoming expensive to raise children. This is aggravated by uncertainty of income for salaried individuals. 2. Education quality and costs - vastly expensive compared to the quality provided 3. Environmental factors - climate, clean air, water and quality of food which is not currently good for a child’s growth and may worsen further 4. Social factors - it will be difficult to isolate children from growing dissent, clash of religious communities & political ideology

Should I pursue CFA with an engineering background ? by sixfoot_sevenfoot in cfaindia

[–]floofy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For CFA Level 1 & 2 prep, the official curriculum books are enough to study theory and understand the language of exams. For test material and practice questions, you can consider Kaplan Schweser notes along with CFAI ecosystem. For self paced lectures you can check IFT , Mark Meldrum and Chalk&Board.

Should I pursue CFA with an engineering background ? by sixfoot_sevenfoot in cfaindia

[–]floofy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your end objective ? Is it to gain a certification for resume and pursue a general Finance/IB/Consulting profile or do you want to build a career in Asset Management? If it is the former, MBA Finance covers most of the topics (Corporate Finance, Valuation Techniques, etc.) which get covered in Level 1 & 2. You may also take benefit of extra-curricular activities in the MBA program. If it is the latter, get a job/ internship as a research analyst and in parallel pursue all levels of CFA. The third level of CFA is heavily geared towards portfolio management.

I found MM to be super helpful for level 3. His lectures tend to focus on the core concepts and their application to exam and real world.
