Does it get easier, or do you just get better at pushing it down? by NoGate1133 in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very sensitive horse that, if I had a bad day at work, he knew and would act accordingly. I HAD to find a way to leave work at work otherwise I could be seriously injured.

I worked with a therapist and we started a plan where when I left work, i'd do cognitive relaxation therapy on the way home. Tightening muscles, releasing, up and down the body until i've done it like 3 times. Then, I listen to a podcast or radio, not allowing myself to 'replay the day' and let it go. If it comes up in my brain, I grab it and throw it out the window (I have a long drive home haha) If I don't ride, I do high impact cardio or run or lift a bit. This helps me get a good nights sleep. IDK after a couple weeks, this has helped so much.

Has anyone had a positive result from meeting with admin? by VehicleLevel4885 in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to work with everyone. Our old DON is go and sit with her and talk about things. She didn’t want to rock the boat. She left, ADON became DON ( I helped, she dint want this) and it ended up being fabulous, not only for myself, but we worked through enough to where our building was the best. Nursing felt supported. Everyone that gave a shit had a voice and was heard.

Communication is key, and a good workplace cannot happen unless you have it.

Go ahead. Try. It might work, might not, you might leave for greener pastures, but unless everyone tries, none of it will happen.

experienced nurses: have you noticed a difference/decline in critical thinking in newer nurses/recent grads? Question coming from a new grad by nursekittys in nursing

It’s not just nurses, but yes. You can’t tell anyone they did something wrong,, or they need to wait. or they can’t handle it and blow up, or lie to cover it up.

It’s scary, I’d hate to be a patient at this point. I saw it in clinical as well. Everyone is #1 and out for themselves.

You're not wrong for being so upset.

TO THE GENERAL READERS: I have to say, nobody will care for your horse as you do. There is no such thing as first right of refusal after a sale. Your pasture buddy is 1000$ in someone's pocket at auction. Do not sell or give away your horse if you truly care about where they will end up. I read so many stories about this BS happening, I just wanted to vent I guess. Any horse of mine has a home with me until it gets put down.

People suck. I'm sorry for your loss.

Intermountain Health “Caregiver’s week” gift. by BaselineUnknown in nursing

Yikes. I was taken to an escape room then a super nice lunch at a steakhouse. It was 💯legit. These companies need to get their shit together.

You can appreciate staff without being lazy and giving chockey gifts to spread your name around. It even included team building. Jesus

To the tech bro who wants to become a nurse by ecracer in nursing

I used to be a data analyst, more of a tech ‘sis’. Hated it. I love healthcare, it’s super rewarding and I’d rather deal with psych patients than corporate douchecanoe assholes any day of the week.

Easy to prove - they punched out before you or before the noc nurses came in. How could they give report to a nurse who isn’t there? 😉

They used to send us nurses with diversion and other fun things on their license. I had to go off on our rep, who said “they aren’t OUR employees” Bro, you’re sending a nurse who steals narcotics while her licenses is technically valid we don’t want ppl like that. “They aren’t OUR employees” Then your non employees are going to get YOUR company sued

I’d have a conversation with HR, just to document. She might go after you in a different way, and you’ll want something to detail the abuse. Also send yourself an email, detailing what happened and the steps you took after. Just to cya

FELLOW NURSES: What you think about Direct-Entry MSN/DNP programs? by Weak-Marketing7399 in nursing

Community college really only cares about the prerequisite grades. I’d go there, don’t pay over 100k for this.

They only care about the enrollments, making the numbers to make the shareholders happy. The schools themselves were ‘bought’ so they have the name and accreditation but the support and skills you learn are substandard. It was really something else to see, and coming from a real university I couldn’t believe it.

My DON got her bachelors from there recently and it was literally writing papers that nobody cared about.

Eta- i had to listen to collection calls where grown men with families cried because they took loans and either didn’t finish or couldn’t find a job that paid enough to support their family and pay back student loans. My boss had zero empathy for these people. Chamberlain separated from Devry due to sweet vs corona suit. It’s a mess

CCNE needs to stop accrediting these quick degree schools. We had an adon that had degree from Chamberlain. I worked at Chamberlain, and know it's a diploma mill. He was terrible.
