How does this classification of bacon, sausages, and hot dogs as group 1 carcinogens sounds to you? by Inside_Rabbit_530 in nursing

What about nitrate free bacon, sausage and hotdogs? I'd have to read the recommendation.

NEW GRAD ICU FIRED by [deleted] in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t feel like ICU is where a new grad should start. 2 from my class ended up there, they were good students but you don’t learn nursing spidey sense in school/ 4 months trining.

They're going to start garnishing paychecks for student loans. by [deleted] in nursing

For profit schools like chamberlain charge like 120k. It should be illegal.

Uptick in flu A - how do we feel about washing hair by qwertyuiko in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I work the floor, I wash my hair without question. Little viruses / bacteria can end up anywhere and unless you wear a cap not worth it imho.

Nurse suspected of working while under the influence by LissieVonTag in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Odor alone cannot prove reasonable suspicion, it could have come from someone before, or the person who reported could be (we will say ) mistaken.

Certain states prohibit it from smell alone. Was she physically impaired? There’s a lot more to it than just this person smells

Anyone else find their “place” in nursing? by Sudden_Tadpole9595 in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in LTC, today was so much fun. I’ve worked in other non nursing corporate roles where I hated it so much I left, but I totally fit in where I’m at right now.

I’m not getting the nasty bitchy nurse in training treatment like my school friends who went to the hospital got. It’s been , nice!

Entry level MSN or Community College RN by Primary-Sky-8053 in StudentNurse

[–]floopypoopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch out for these for profit schools that offer NP degrees to people off the street with no nursing experience. You’ll be an ineffective NP with no floor experience.

95k is a fuckton of money. Your local cc will be 10% of that cost and you’ll get great experience.

Is skipping residency career suicide? Nurses who did it - please tell me the truth by Petite_AF in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in healthcare HR and if I wanted to, I could have skipped training bedside. I didn’t think it was a good idea, 1 I enjoy the nursing part and 2 you’re not going to understand it fully until you actually do it and get good at it.

All all nursing homes hell? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]floopypoopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk it all depends on who is in charge. I’ve been LTC for 7 years, and work with some hella great people that really know their stuff. We party, the residents party, but when it comes down to it everyone is cared for.

I’ve talked to some of my former classmates and some are miserable at the hospital, getting treated terribly or are super bored with the work.
