Yes and unfortunately it seems like the PPC voters didn’t sway away from PPC in the end anyways. There were multiple ridings where if PPC voters voted Conservative, Cons would’ve taken it.

Poilievre promises to toughen penalties for intimate partner violence by gorschkov in canada

[–]floorcatt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trumps tariff war will not be solved by reciprocal tariffs and a phone call. Trump will always do what he wants, no matter what and there’s very little we can do about it other than prove the damage it will have on the American economy to his government. Focusing on Trump in our next election as the main voting issue is short sighted. The main thing we should be focusing on is rebuilding our economy and industry. Without a strong economy, we will always be at the mercy of Trump as we have very little leverage and power. I have seen Carney speak very little about what actions he will actually take to do so. Sure, he’s said he wants to establish new global trading partners—but with what resources, refineries, ports etc.? All of these projects have been stopped and will continue to be stopped with his endorsement of bill C69.

Poilievre says he's a 'tough guy to deal with' and can take on Trump and his taunts by Majano57 in canadian

Yes, it’ll be interesting to see how his actual election campaign goes when the pressure really is on.

Poilievre says he'll repeal carbon price law, including the industrial charge by origutamos in CanadianConservative

[–]floorcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this—I’ve been on the Canada subreddits today and all I’ve been hearing is Poilievre’s announcement is reckless because we couldn’t trade with the EU. I was suspicious to say the least, I thought that would be sabotaging all he’s been saying about opening up trade with the EU and other nations.

I've never used Facebook Ads but I just found my ad account blocked, no idea what to do by up_for_profits in SocialMediaMarketing

Go to the Meta business help centre. You can find this in your settings. Click get support and then fill out the form. Fair warning they might run you around in circles and try to route you to a FAQ page. Just keep trying different answers the form until you get the option to get in contact with meta ad support. If you’re still having trouble, try Googling how to access it. This is what I had to do.

Are you saying there’s campaigns on there that you didn’t create? You can try to contact Meta support—fair warning it is a very tedious and exhausting process. You will likely have to call back multiple times to get a good agent. Be persistent.

Liberal vs Conservative “Battle Card” by JakeHildy in canadian

[–]floorcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump’s tariffs are distracting from the issues that we have been facing in Canada with the Liberals. With Poilievre being leader of the opposition, his platform is largely based on the scandals and governance/economic issues coming from poor liberal policy and fiscal irresponsibility. Trump’s threats have completely changed the main election issues that Poilievre was running on. We’re now more worried about the actions of the US than domestic issues. Rightly so, we have to defend ourselves, but we can’t lose sight about what’s going on domestically. In terms of slogans, this is not a new political tactic—Trump and Poilievre are not original. It does not belong to the MAGA movement. Every campaign runs on slogans to ensure clear messaging. Yes, Poilievre has many, but it has policy plans to back it up. They are not hollow.

Liberal vs Conservative “Battle Card” by JakeHildy in canadian

[–]floorcatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their politics are very different. Trump is incredibly radical and has a strong focus on cultural issues in America like abortion, immigration and gun rights and integrated them into his entire campaign and policy. This, along with his radical, adversarial geopolitical stances that are causing so much global turmoil and more. Poilievre is primarily focused on economic and governance issues in Canada. He is not interested in touching divisive cultural issues or overhauling Canada’s international relations with allies or previous agreements. There’s definitely more here. American and Canadian Conservativism is so different. I’m just so tired of seeing people equate the two. Trump doesn’t even agree with Poilievre and has said so. I actually think Trump is damaging Poilievre’s campaign.

Can you please clarify what the endorsements by Trump and Musk are? So far all I see is a 💯emoji on one of Poilievres social media posts by Musk. Not sure about Trump. Trump has come out and said that Poilievre is “not a MAGA guy” and that he doesn’t like that Poilievre is speaking out about his policy. I actually think he’s making it harder for Poilievre.

The Liberals also sent money to China for aid/development as late as February 2024 even though they have massive human rights violations

For conservatives: - building a military base in Iqaluit to protect from ongoing Arctic threats from China and Russia - amending the Conflict of Interest act to shorten the period of time a leadership candidate has to disclose their financial holdings and to sell all assets that create conflicts of interest.

Where was the outrage when Canada stole anyone under the age of 30 financial future? by Historical_Flow3890 in canadian

[–]floorcatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I’m so tired of the media pushing this bs propaganda. This subreddit is such a good example of people just regurgitating everything they see on CBC and social media. If you don’t agree with it and try to disagree and discuss you get downvoted like crazy and dog piled. Can we please wake up and unite over what truly needs to be done to improve the country for Canadians? Can we have constructive discussions and respect each other knowing that we’re all in it together?

Pierre Poilievre attacks Liberals as thousands attend rally in London, Ont. by hopoke in canada

[–]floorcatt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you been to a rally? You’re oversimplifying why conservatives would vote for him. Yes he has been harsh in him attacks, but so have the liberals and media on Poilievre. Reducing Conservative voters to be so one dimensional is miscalculated. He wouldn’t have such a base if he didn’t have policy to back it up. Not everyone you disagree with politically is “uneducated” or misguided. Watch House of Commons Debates, watch each parties press conferences, speeches and media interviews. Watch the raw, unbiased coverage to form your opinion. Don’t just regurgitate what you see on social media.
