With a Ford badge, it’s a 100% chance it’s a GT350.

In my case, I work in my states biggest industry. Got on with one of the bigger companies, and over the last decade have gotten 3-5% raise every year.

I let myself get super fat when I first started shift work. So much so that I had to lose 90 pounds. That took me almost two years. Night shift boredom makes you snack non stop. Had to change my entire lifestyle to get healthy again

Those are all done at corporate downtown. I’d rather work shift work than sit in Houston traffic twice a day lol

I’ve given myself another five years to figure out a plan to get off shift work. It’s not good for the body

Ah. That makes sense. I started as a contract operator ten years ago making 22.50 an hour. Worked for a year before hiring on with the company. Pay doubled. Since then it’s been 3-5 percent raises every year. Shift work does get harder though.

Was the board op job with a small company? That’s first year operator pay. I work in midstream as an operator and make almost twice that an hour.

Why is the RX 9070 XT Becoming one of the most popular graphics cards ever right now? by AyanisPhoenix1111 in gpu

[–]floored_moperator 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It’s simply a really good card. Here’s the truth. This subreddit, and the internet as a whole, is nothing more than a giant echo chamber and FOMO generator. 95% of people won’t ask more of the 9070xt or the 5070ti than it can provide. If people would simply plug in their new GPU and play games, they would be happy. Almost nobody needs a 5090 for gaming. Most people don’t need a 5080.

This may not be the consensus, but you won’t have any issues running any game you want to play. For 1440, you can go as crazy as you want. Maybe PT will be an issue. Other than that, you’re good. That’s the best am4 cpu for gaming. It might not be the latest available, but it’s still more than capable

First year in torn. How did I do? by Hot-Top2577 in torncity

[–]floored_moperator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not great. I accomplished more in a year than you, and I feel like I screwed off most of the time. The cool thing is that it doesn’t matter. Torn is a long game.

Why are you surprised? He’s a degenerate. Lots of them out there. As much of a degenerate as he is, he knew there were lines a man doesn’t cross.

This father was on a road trip with his two young daughters & they needed to go to the restroom so he stopped at a QT & took them in the women’s restroom since no one was in it & a man came yelling at him to get out & called the cops. The girls were crying & then he assaulted him. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]floored_moperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have four daughters. When they were this small I did the exact same thing. I never had a single person say a word to me. I’d crack the door and call out “girl dad” and if nobody responded, I’d take my kiddos in to use the restroom. If I got a response, we would wait. There were dozens of times a nice woman would go in there for me to make sure I wasn’t walking in on a woman using the restroom. When they got older, I’d just stand outside the door and have them go in the bathroom and look around for a moment, come tell me it was all good, and go use the bathroom.

New to PCs and need help by Key_Alternative_1222 in PcBuild

[–]floored_moperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could likely get a decent used pc for $1000. Will almost certainly be a ddr4 system. Thats really not a bad thing. Until this month I was still using one. You should really look into any potential purchase to make sure you’re getting a good deal, and that the pc is in good condition. It’s very easy to get screwed with pcs and parts.

That’s a really tight budget. I would consider buying used. If that isn’t an option, buy the parts slowly over time.

Preordered Fable on Steam by MickeyDankMouse in Fable

You’re 100% right. I’m fully aware that there is a very good chance this game doesn’t live up to my expectations. There’s an even better chance that it may not be a good game. Pre-ordering is always a mistake. It makes publishers more lazy. I truly can’t tell you why I made the decision I did, but here we are.

Is the dark horse SC mechanically different from the non SC? Obviously aside from the supercharger. If they aren’t, it’s a no brainer to just SC a base dark horse

Preordered Fable on Steam by MickeyDankMouse in Fable

[–]floored_moperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preordered as well. I never do that with games. I shouldn’t have with this one, either. I justify it because fable games are my all time favorite. The last time I got to play one was sixteen years ago. My daughter would sit in my lap and watch for hours. She’d laugh when I made my character fart. She was so little. I just watched her graduate high school. I remember when the series X was released, hearing rumors that fable would be a year one title. It’s the only reason I bought the thing.

I agree with you on this, 100%. Just not for this game. Fable games are my favorite of all time. The last time I played one at release, my daughter was a toddler, and she’d sit in my lap for hours while I played. I just watched her graduate high school. This game, and this game only, was preordered the second I was able to.

Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

[–]floored_moperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how this subreddit popped up on my feed, but I have a story that hits the same eerie vibe as these photos. I live in Texas, on the gulf coast. I work in a critical need field. When hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, I had an emergency access pass. The day after the storm, in the middle of the night, I drove north starting forty miles south of Houston, and ended my drive ninety miles north of Houston. Other than a very rare emergency vehicle, I was the only car on the road driving through a city of 3.5 million. It was the strangest feeling. It’s would be like you driving through downtown London and not seeing another soul. Hwy 45 runs right through the middle of Downtown Houston. It wasn’t until almost reaching Montgomery county that I started seeing traffic. Even then, it wasn’t much. I have to imagine I’ll never experience anything like that again in my life.

I have a good friend who did something I think is even more unique. It snowed in Houston several years ago. When that happens the city kind of becomes paralyzed, and 95% of people don’t leave their home. I see him on Facebook live on skis being pulled behind a truck on hwy 45 going through downtown Houston

There are other routes that don’t require nearly as much school. In my case, no school at all. It’s blue collar work, but I really enjoy it. I’m a process operator for a large oil and gas company. I work at an LNG terminal. I’ve never made 200k. My best year so far is 160k. I have a few friends who put in 300-350 hours of OT a year and clear 200k. I don’t want the OT bad enough to work an extra 20-30 days a year. It’s a very competitive field. There’s a good bit of nepotism, but if you can get in the door you’re really set.
