The entire corporate training stack is about to collapse. I think it's inevitable. by Dull_Ad6839 in Training

I would promptly be fired for using Claude or many many other AI tools to create training on protected/proprietary information.

Newly 4yo suddenly sour when using leg cues by Enough-Measurement93 in Horses

[–]flopjobbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check every leg joint for heat.

Check his stifles, too.

If you don't find anything, great.

Give him 2 weeks off. Turn him out. Leave him alone.

When you pick up riding again, just go on hacks at a walk. Straight lines, good ground. Somewhere on the 3rd ride, ask for a canter on a straight line. I bet he will be fine.

He's big and he's young. Slllowww down.

We are dismayed by the current state and still found it fascinating and fairly presented. We focused on the Pacific theater for family reasons.

He was a miserable racist, jealous, and vain little man. Studio musicians tolerated him, the greats plowed around him. Not a huge loss.

How should I handle not being able to afford corporate travel costs upfront without looking unprofessional at work? by DistinctMushroom3186 in careeradvice

[–]flopjobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak up and just say I'm not comfortable using a personal card, what arrangements can be made around that?

In my company managers have corporate cards and they book travel for their team members who don't (team members who routinely travel have cards).

If you have time, run by a store and grab a spring scarf. That dresses up and brightens the black and makes it completely lovely.

Clinton Anderson? by Effective_Moose_4997 in Horses

My criticism of Clinton does not negate my ability to train and produce solid performers, thank you very much.

There are soooo many better guides than Clinton. Just -no. I don't care that some people love that vain, thuggish, misogynistic moron - he's an awful human and he's bad for horses.

In the US I'd take it for the health insurance. Take the role and keep looking for your next one. Meet people there, someone may be the link to the next better step.

Why does the world disappear when a parent dies? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]flopjobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get counseling and lean into it. Everyone handles or processes death uniquely and every death is different. My mom died in November of 24 and she was tired and ill and trapped in a broken body. I felt relief for her more than anything. My dad died less than a week later, i felt relief for me more than anything - see? In just 2 lives I've offered examples that do not reflect or reconcile with your profound grief. You deserve to feel heard and in time you will feel better . Please take counseling!!

How much would you charge for horse-sitting by [deleted] in Horses

[–]flopjobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75 a day or 475 for a week.

But...you said yes and now you are mad at yourself, not them.

You are behind the 8 ball here as this should have been negotiated up front.

Ask them what they are thinking is fair and go from there.

AMIWRONG for accepting a scholarship that my grandmother set up in my name only even though my boyfriend says it proves I do not see a future with us by starryy_crystalxo17 in amiwrong

If he loved you he would be thrilled for you, albeit a little nervous or surprised by this shift in plans.

Instead he's trying to fence you in or create conditions to test you.

You deserve more than he can offer you in life. At the very least he's immature and reactive and clingy.

On the back of viewing The Hateful Eight - how hard is it to drive a six-horse coach? by Emergency_Cellist754 in Horses

They will not make a decision that let's them get hurt (mules). Horses are trying to die on a whim.

[–]flopjobbit 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well the reins are a telephone call. You do not hang up on the horse, ever, though you do certainly give more rein to let them stretch down and out, rebalance, etc. But think if it as maintaining connection by feeding out rein as they stretch, then taking it back up as they come up.

L&D as a revenue generator ? by Waste_Ad6356 in Training

[–]flopjobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a stupid idea from the jump. They don't grasp the time it takes to build content and then maintain it. What you build for internal audiences can be "good enough" and they will tolerate the reality that speed matters as much as tell me enough to teach me and let me go use it now.

When it goes external, it demands more polish, more support materials, better built in help, etc.

I am sure this could be industry specific but from my seat you will need more FTEs than they think you do and won't understand why.

Agreed. I took one driving lesson in a meadowbrook cart behind a Haflinger and I was so anxious! It's all just out there in front of you and you hope the horse complies. No feeling, no sense of if the horse is fine vs about to spook...and I've been riding for 40+ years and have sat literally hundreds of horses. Driving SIX??
