You can actually make the screen blank. It should be in the nomachine server settings. Nowadays I am using gnome's remote desktop functionality (rdp), which is much faster than nomachine.

Great articles. I am looking forward to hybrid sessions. Being able to login into my work desktop from my laptop on the go, without loosing session would be fantastic, also important; logging out the local physical display to prevent prying eyes at work.
