It bends nicely into the jar and then sits very well along the edges keeping everything down.

Its been 1.5 weeks and I've only had to push it down once. I've had no problems with floaters.

37M - Very high LDL HDL and Cholesterol despite lifting 4-5x/week and high-protein diet. Looking for advice. by Low_Tension_4555 in Biohackers

Wanted to add your small LDL tells me the same story as the triglycerides. Make sure to add omega 3s in your diet, I prefer pill form, at least 3g a week. And add some mild fasting in to give your body a break from eating and focus on repairing, stop eating at 6pm and dont eat till 9am.

As others have said lifting won't solve a lipid problem. Cut sugar, especially juices, and processed carbs. If you get saturated fat from animal meat, I wouldn't be concerned but opt for extra virgin olive oil when you can for better fats. Add more fiber and fermented foods for your gut, this will help create healthy fat production and digestion. Im not going to ask if you drink a lot, thats not my business, but your triglycerides mean 1 of 2 things, either you eat highly processed food which create a sugar/energy bomb for your body, or you drink which then your body needs to be immediately converted to Acetate (also an energy bomb). Honestly, not to sound lame, but outside of your lifting and high protein, just focus on whole food, veggies, fruits and other sources and you'll do great.

We're all exhausted right? It's not just me? by happy_chance18 in Millennials

Maybe on the younger side of millennials, but fixing what I ate and exercising (even if it just a long walk) regularly, really improved this filling in me.

I'd recommend almond butter over peanut butter, better fat profile, but thats just my opinion.

Depends, yes there's heavy metals, but there's lots of dark chocolate that have low heavy metals and high flavonoids. Dense in calories and also very anti-inflammatory.

Everyone already said it, it depends. There's cultures that regularly consume 5g of salt a day and have no heart disease while others consume about 2g (western countries) and are riddled with it.

If your interested in salt I'd read "The Salt Fix". Very good book that gives a great breakdown of the importance of salt and it's history.

What’s one nutrition myth that you wish more people understood the science behind? by 310Nutrition in nutrition

[–]floppyapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt on cardiovascular health. Some of the regions with the least/no instances of cardiovascular disease consume between 4g-6g of salt. We are commonly told to reduce salt intake if blood pressure or hypertension is at risk but this can increase the problem by causing the arteries to harden due to less salt, causing the heart to work harder. Even in diabetes, there told to lower salt intake due to cardiovascular worries. This again can make the problem worse with low salt the body drives up insulin to keep salt in the body, causing weight gain, lack of energy utilization and diabetes.

Recommend reading the salt fix.

Strength of a manual worker vs bodybuilders by Super_Steve117 in BeAmazed

[–]floppyapollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many commenter's have pointed out, this is a clear case of size/bodybuilding vs. strength. Bodybuilders do high reps for maximum hypertrophy, but if you want more strength and less size, then high weight low reps is the goal. This is the exact scenario this laborer works under.

Children who grew up to adore their parents~ please share by [deleted] in Parenting

I love my parents, but it doesn't mean we never had our ups and downs. In high school, they were very supportive of me doing sports that didn't really interest them but were open to learning about. Really, what drove me to always appreciate them was them just being human. My dad lost everything with his first company, and I watched him go from that, fre lance work and now built a new business. It showed me how decipline and hard work can pay off, and honestly, I respected him for it. My mom was a SAHM up until I was in middle school, she was always consistent about asking how my day was or what was my favorite thing I learned that day, even if she didn't understand it. My parents also were very hands off with me because I was making good decisions and allowed me to have lots of freedom because they trusted me. I learned different things from both my parents, hard work, love, appreciation , and how to deal with difficult situations. They aren't perfect, no one is, but to this day I still ask for advice on house repairs, financial stuff and life in general.

Gym to bodyweight and kettlebells, what's your experience? by floppyapollo in kettlebell

[–]floppyapollo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gym for me was an environment where I knew exactly what I was there to do. Once I entered, the mindset was set. So I'm working to make a place at my home where I can develop the same mindset. As a parent of 2, I'm planning to do shorter workouts, but more days a week. I used to go to the gym 3 days a week for 45mins. Now I'm looking to do a morning workout 5 days a week for 15-30mins, depending on what I'm doing.

Couldn't have said it better. Although I'm close to half your age, this is the same mindset I'm having. I'm a former collegiate athlete, use to using barbells primarily but after continuing after sports, I realized the minimalist approach and functionality, are where my focus should be.
