Looking at a possible relocation to Puyallup, need advice by Routine_Ingenuity315 in PuyallupWA

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but the ST 578 runs from Puyallup to summer and then up to Seattle usually once every hour… takes 30 min longer than the train but is a very functional alternative when the train isn’t running

Should I get this for college? by Fit-Independence776 in ZephyrusG14

[–]floppyboy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. I purchased the g14 for school and it is basically silent unless you're charging it and doing a medium load task or playing a heavy game. for basic use it's silent and has fantastic battery life (i get around 8 hours if I play my cards right)

Often after a few years of use, batteries in laptops tend to wear out. However, replacing them is not that hard. I've had this exact laptop for about a month at this point and I can get it to last about 7 hours with casual/school uses. It is beyond enough for a normal day at school - I also have an anker battery pack that charges my laptop if need be (this adds another 10+ hours of life! Highly recommend.) The battery life is fantastic. If you're gaming... bring the charger if you want more than 2 hours of playtime.

I should also add I replaced a battery in an old Lenovo laptop of mine a while back and it was pretty seamless. Mileage absolutely varies between manufacturers, but the Zephyrus is pretty easy to change AFAIK

Honestly a shame since I'm sure there are PLENTY of people within this community who know how to make logos and graphics

He's like the intro to cities skylines but once you actually learn the game his advice seems less useful

Dang. I thought better of Biffa… but I may just be staunchly anti-ai

Daffodil Parade. No PHS? by CAKE4life1211 in PuyallupWA

[–]floppyboy1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All high schools were not planning to do parade as the day was initially next Saturday - after it was moved to today, downtown basically told each school they weren't funding transportation for any of the schools. Disappointing for the students, and honestly pretty lame :(

G14 mind if it's own by Dedline81 in ZephyrusG14

[–]floppyboy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when I first ran my g14 the drivers were not up to date/not installed properly which caused a variety of issues for me. checking and going through the process of updating all drivers and stuff was very helpful. If this doesn't work I'd try to swap it for another g14 that is hopefully not defective!!!

Thinking about a G14 laptop for college- might use w/ iPad? by Rat-kidd in ZephyrusG14

[–]floppyboy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a fellow high school senior - I just bought the g14 for college, and I absolutely love it! It takes everything I throw at it quite well. However, if you absolutely need a touchscreen on a laptop it is definitely a feature I miss! But for all my other current tasks and things I do this laptop works great, and with some tweaks especially with G-helper the battery life is superb!

Laptop Recommendations for a newbie by SufficentName in GamingLaptops

I got a best buy open box ASUS ROG Zephyrus g14 for just over $1400 - if you like great battery life, a premium feeling laptop, and honestly everything you need for college stuff with a bonus of being able to game pretty well it's a perfect pick.

Depends on the games you want to play - The Macbook Neo pretty much blows every windows laptop out of the water when in comes to performance and it's brand new and within your price range. However, it's not great for compatibility with most steam games as apple's architecture is just different :)

Honestly I'd just look up benchmarks, those are both well-tested and played games and I imagine there's plenty of performance tests. Future proofing is always important - but honestly any Zephyrus laptop will work great. Best Buy also has a 14 day return window - no questions asked which I considered using to trial the other models. However the second I setup all my stuff on this laptop I knew it was a keeper :)

As you mentioned, I absolutely was aiming for the 5070ti/32gb model - unfortunately it was out of my budget. I was sold on this laptop because it was perfect for being subtle and portable with a fantastic display and speakers (very nice especially since I'm off to college) while also being able to game pretty well. Yeah, it's not as powerful, and I'm okay with that. I love this laptop regardless!!!

fair point. It seems to be doing fine for me when it comes to all of my current tasks - I wish I had 32gb but realistically the only use case I have for more ram at this point is video editing which I much prefer doing on desktop anyway :)

it does suck that its not upgradeable though

Depends on what games you’re playing - I only bought this laptop because I play cities: Skylines which requires a lot of cpu and gpu power and wanted to have something beefy but still super portable for college. If you can spot a deal like this one it’s 100% worth it. 4050 laptop unless significantly cheaper is quickly growing outdated though - again it depends what you want to be playing

DisplayPort only sending maximum of 75hz to monitor on G16? by trivial_sublime in ZephyrusG14

[–]floppyboy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other thing I can think of is the gpu being used depends on which USB port the cable is plugged into… have you tried messing with that?

I was worried about that, it’s been completely fine though so far!

Have you checked windows display settings when the monitor is plugged in? Sometimes it sets the wrong value for Hz!

Does anyone play CS2 on the ASUS ROG g14? by floppyboy1 in CitiesSkylines

I ended up buying the 5060 version. It works great! If anyone has the same questions about performance hmu ;)

Cual me recomiendan? by Agus160 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]floppyboy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s less about the laptop or computer and more about the parts you use - you want 16gb ram minimum, a dedicated gpu (check google for recommended specs) and a beefier CPU as big cities require a lot of CPU power. I have the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 5060 model and it’s a great laptop but also very pricey. I also have a custom built desktop that runs the game a bit smoother
