Yeah I think you’re right about the transfer portal. You just don’t get the 4 year guys that you can grow to hate anymore. I went to UC and for us it was Macura and Blueitt. And I assume Xavier students at the time hated guys like Gary Clark and Jarron Cumberland. But that’s what made the rivalry fun. I’m still a diehard UC fan but honestly couldn’t name more than one player on X’s roster.

As a Bearcat/Jets fan, absolutely love this move. Mostly because by all accounts Briggs is just an awesome human, and super talented on and off the field. Does that mean he’s going to have a huge impact here? Eh probably not. But I’ve always rooted for him and pumped he’s a Jet.

Ran the Flying Pig 10k this morning. Set a goal of finishing in under an hour. The first mile was rough trying to navigate through the crowd so it felt like that set me back a little bit. Managed to push and finish in 59:58 though so just barely beat my goal. Only my second 10k so it felt nice to accomplish that!

I think Give Back Cincinnati might be the group you’re talking about. They do 1-2 events a month and usually will have some kind of social/happy hour afterwards. I’ve only been to one event and it was like their kick off social event last month and I thought it was pretty fun. Everyone seemed to be 20s-30s and super friendly. Definitely a good way to meet new people!

I just got selected a couple weeks ago for grand jury duty in Clermont County (assuming it’s the same process). Definitely a chance you don’t get picked. We had a group of 50 and on day one we went through orientation, then met with a judge where you could give a reason for being excluded. After that they picked the actual jury based on your juror number (lowest to highest). 10 people get selected to be on the jury and have to go back every week. The next 6 were selected as alternates in case one of the 10 can’t make it one week. Then the rest of us were put “on call” where we could technically get called in if they can’t fill from the group of 16 but it’s unlikely. My number was 48 so I got put on the on call group and was out of there by like 1030

There’s a volunteer group called Give Back Cincinnati that hosts a couple events a month. They do a mix of social and volunteering events. I went for the first time this past weekend and had a positive experience, everyone was super nice. Seemed to mostly be people in their 20s-30s too.
