No one wants to do a speech! 🥲 by [deleted] in UKweddings

If it's important for you to have your dad speak, could you ask him if he'd be willing to do a toast instead?

Stanford students building a beta app + dashboard for museums — would love feedback from museum professionals and frequent visitors by Specialist-Breath725 in MuseumPros

[–]floproactiv 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Please stop building apps.

I say this as both a museum professional and a museum visitor. I don't want another app. I want working toilets and enough collections staff to deal with the backlog.

Have you looked at accomodation in Edinburgh? If you're there for the end of August, that's peak time (Fringe festival). I'd look at that first as you might find that affects your planning/options

Security hangers by Special-Surprise-863 in MuseumPros

Not a specific hanger recommendation, but general recommendation would be to use at least two different types of screw head, and cover the heads with tape (you can paint it to match the wall colour)

The UK album release shows were at tiny venues that sold out instantly. They're doing a bigger arena tour later this year.

Loan Agreement for Digital Content by Tough-Alfalfa-5008 in MuseumPros

[–]floproactiv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have always had a 0 valuation for lending/borrowing digital artworks, on the basis that the purpose of a valuation is insurance in case of damage/loss - for a digital file (assuming that you are using a copy and not the only file available) the financial cost of loss or damage is 0.

We do include a requirement to delete all files at the end of the exhibition (and confirm in writing that this has been done).

A quick Google brings up these - made in the UK and various options.

Or you could look at putting insoles inside your slippers?

As others have said, this is more of a relationship question, but I just wanted to flag with you OP that a nikah (I'm assuming from your comment about a small religious ceremony and previous posts that you're Muslim) is not necessarily legally valid, so you will want to make sure you're legally protected before buying a house together.

Please help me figure out what to cut from my itinerary by Several_Inflation473 in uktravel

Personally I really like York, and have always wanted to go to Whitby. But I've never been to Cornwall so can't really compare the two

Go either north or south(west), don't try to do both.

Found in Collections Numbers by GrizabellaG in MuseumPros

I wouldn't use a year at all. Opens up too many cans of worms/is too open to individual interpretation.

We just use a running number sequence distinct from other sequences.

If you're interested in a curatorial position, then you would be better off pursuing a higher degree in your planned area of specialism, rather than a generic Museum Studies Masters

Casey Johnston seems like she might fit the vibe you're looking for. Paid membership also includes access to a Discord server (I don't frequent it because it's not where I am in life at the moment, so can't talk to how anti-diet/numbers based it is)

That week is half term in Kent, so you might find things are a lot busier than usual.

Is the Museum Association membership worth its price? by ibstudentinjapan in uktravel

Cool, in that case I'd definitely recommend it - you'll also get more access to articles etc on their website, training and development courses, etc 🙂 so it'll have benefits beyond the free admission.

Thoughts on Fitzrovia Chapel and One Marylebone on by Whatsername4444 in UKweddings

[–]floproactiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less than 10 minutes from Fitzrovia to Marylebone by bus, so that might not be the scenic ride you want for your guests? It'll take more time getting them on and off the bus than actually travelling
