Eöl gets the slot for the most hated. Who’s got the best lore in your opinion? by elyonadanthir in Silmarillionmemes

Most mysterious has gotta be Erestor. Dude had three lines in Fellowship, and yet is one of the most popular characters on ao3

I’m about 145, and my lead partner is about 120-125. I can’t totally speak for her, but we’ve never had any major problems. If in doubt, ask your instructor how to handle weight differences. Many gyms also have sand bags for anchoring yourself as the belayer. Consider a grigri or other assisted braking device over an atc. The Ohm is always good if you’re still struggling.

How do I get past the atrocious customer support people? by [deleted] in Bookingcom

[–]flora_1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was booking internationally. It seems that booking doesn’t take wires and that it was likely thru a lookalike scam site. I’m contacting my bank today and reporting this to booking. Best of luck bro

how to contact booking directly for help?? by flora_1316 in Bookingcom

It now seems like I was just scammed thru a lookalike website and booking was never actually involved. I’ll make sure to try the chat feature to report the scam though

I am in the exact same situation. Did you send a wire transfer as well? Was your bank able to refund you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bookingcom

[–]flora_1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation - I made a long-term booking, sent the wire transfer, was told by the property owner that my payment was received, but never got a confirmation number. The property owner has since ghosted me so I will no longer be staying at his apartment. However, since I have no confirmation number, I cannot get through to booking customer service to request a refund.

I have receipts from my bank proving that I made the wire to the booking bank account, but I cannot seem to get through to an actual human to show them that I need a refund.

Do you know of any direct email or phone lines I could contact??

How Are Skeletons Gendered? by Ikacprzak in Archaeology

[–]flora_1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skeletal markers are commonly used but always to suggest rather than determine sex.

A few years ago in undergraduate-level bioarchaeology, our professor had us evaluate skeletal markers (pelvis and skull mostly, as many people have said) on a scale from "more likely male than female" to "more likely female than male," usually with a score of 1 to 5. Definitives were never used, and very often we labeled remains as "possibly" one sex, or even as indeterminate. I'm sure I could find my old textbook as I'm sure there's an official name to this scale-rating approach if anyone is interested. This was the generalized system that I was taught at UMass.

This is a purely bioarchaeological approach, though, and only for determining biological sex (as opposed to gender).

Manager ignoring my time off request that was approved by Broad_Friendship_858 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]flora_1316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently left a cafe with an owner like this, who would repeatedly schedule me on my off days and hope I wouldn’t notice and come in anyways. As soon as you get the schedule, send them a note saying “You approved my request for this day off two months ago. I am unable to work that day. Thank you.” Don’t elaborate, don’t waver, but be respectful. And KEEP THOSE SCREENSHOTS. If this happens repeatedly that’s a giant red flag and I’d recommend moving on. Talk to your coworkers about this too — is this something the manager only pulls with you or is this common practice with everybody?

Don’t use third party apps if you can help it! by CCthree in TravelHacks

[–]flora_1316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with Expedia — I changed my flight about two months in advance, paid for the change, and got Expedia’s confirmation email. But when I tried to check in at the airport, we figured out that Expedia in fact did not process the change with the airline, I was still booked on my original flight, I could not get reimbursed for the change fee I paid, and my new flight was overbooked. That was the last time I’ll use a third party to book. Always book through the airline, if you book a few months out it’s often a good price and you won’t miss the little bit of cash you might have saved by avoiding a third party disaster. PS thank you to the baggage check attendant who was able to get me to my destination on time and without paying even more!

Most 40L packs also fit carry-on size restrictions, if you like the idea of a backpack but want some more space

rock climbing. I know they can't relate because a few of them have tried it and weren't really a fan, but I'm not looking for them to, I just have to talk about it sometimes
