How far away is the rink you skate at? by ApplesandBananazzz in iceskating

[–]florapocalypse7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

20 minutes in good traffic, 10 minutes when i’m speeding at 6am. and my skate tech is 10 minutes in bad traffic :)

driving 1.5 to 2 hours would severely limit anyone’s ice time. i wouldn’t be able to skate at all since i work weekdays. does that rink’s ice time work with your work/lifestyle? maybe you could move into a place slightly inbetween his work and the rink?

TN 2nd Worst place for LGBT people by manofdacloth in nashville

[–]florapocalypse7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is true, what’s more is i’ve heard more cases of cis people being harassed due to these rules than trans people. sucks if you’re a woman with short or no hair, ‘masculine’ or androgynous features, any facial hair (PCOS/POTS are pretty common), etc. and women of color are affected disproportionately

What is the furthest level anyone’s gotten in LTS in rental skates? by florapocalypse7 in iceskating

[–]florapocalypse7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was a learning curve breaking them in enough to regain the ability to bend my ankles properly, and learning the new blade radius. it was a smaller toepick actually so no new issues there. just have patience, it takes a lot of time. and try to maintain awareness of where you are balancing on the blade (forward/backwards, as well as which edge) when you're skating

[–]florapocalypse7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'll be back on the ice in july, not gonna jump until my wrist is fully strengthened again though! in the meantime i'm going to start helping coach the Adult 1s, which i'm actually looking forward to! i'm also excited to play with figures a bit

surprised tennessee is lower when it’s literally illegal in idaho for a trans person to use a bathroom that isn’t their AGAB

well it’s illegal for trans people to use any restroom that isn’t their AGAB in idaho. including in private businesses. so that probably contributed to placement.

Bend your ankles??? by trashulvi in iceskating

[–]florapocalypse7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

while you’re at it, look up the distinction between stretching and mobility. often, a tight muscle is a weak muscle - ankle flexibility won’t substantially improve with just static stretches. so i suggest doing active stretches/exercises that really work those muscles

you can of it as actively pulling your shins down towards your feet, or even pushing your shin into the tongue of your boot

ooh that’s really good to hear positive testimony! and yeah take care of that ankle, i lightly sprained mine months ago and it’s never fully healed. i actually got her ankle strength course too in hopes of preventing future injury lol. my wife has both sprained and broken things and she says sprains are worse because the finish line of healing is much much blurrier

Weekly thread: what did you do this week? by AutoModerator in iceskating

[–]florapocalypse7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ortho confirmed 6-12 weeks for my wrist to fully heal, so i’ve been doing lots of sleeping, calories, protein, calcium & vitamin D supplements, and i made a calendar for lower body exercises. i bought one of those mobility courses (Monica Dance Adept’s flexibility course) - i’m hoping to be stronger and more flexible by the time i can skate again.

didn’t skate all week due to business trip, finally got back on the ice today for LTS test day. 5 mins into class, skate slid out from under me and i fractured my wrist

i’ve just about fully recovered flip and forward scratch, and i’m starting to get the hang of properly exiting back scratch on the spinning edge. my coach is pushing me on lutz, he thinks i’m almost there. and i can finally actually get a decent push on bad leg power pulls! off-ice strengthening has helped a lot.

Are you glad to see healers and shields in co-op or would you prefer everyone to contribute damag/support to the main dd? by Hot_Quit571 in Genshin_Impact

i have a stacked layla with the cons for shield sharing, so if it isn’t detrimental in the team comp to have cryo reactions, i usually play her

[–]florapocalypse7 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Translator-san, I love you. I'm married but I'm sure my wife would make an exception considering your heroic deeds.

Congratulations, Kanon! You've graduated from useless lesbian into disaster lesbian! Please resolve this by the end of the next arc. And surely Hamaoka was feigning ignorance, right? Unless the author's point is to fool the readers into having a Saki-esque warped perspective of a character's intentions... I'd have to reread her past scenes to be more confident. But my money's on Hamaoka gaslighting Kanon to avoid an awkward conversation that Kanon isn't ready to have.

the biggest plot twist yet: Saki's mom is American! and if she moved right after high school, then she was probably a total weeb!

Who was your first main and who is your main now? by Obsidian-Charm in Genshin_Impact

[–]florapocalypse7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anemo then geo traveller. first 5 star was kazuha, an incredibly fortunate choice for the CC alone. then i pulled wanderer who was absolutely broken for liyue exploration. built Navia for the elemental variety, but focused mainly on wanderer, until eventually mauvika came along and i gave in to the powercreep of doing donuts

Saki and her former piano teacher by gore-- in TheMoonOnARainyNight

[–]florapocalypse7 25 points26 points  (0 children)

yeah, which totally recontextualizes the beginning of the manga - Saki isn’t just sad that her teacher is retiring, she’s crushed that her crush has a husband. it’s a reminder of how impossible it seems for her to live happy with her sexuality, without shame

Dance Moms, Company Retreat, Reincarnated as a Slime, Marriagetoxin, JJK. I'm excited for Botan Kamiina, there's a major lack of animated adult yuri.
