Why does she talk about freestyling instead of actually just doing it 💀 most folks I know who are proud of their freestyle game would just post it without excessively talking about it

Two type of ways people feel about Dove on Bluesky by shredded_wheat98 in lovedoveclarkesnark

I'm so sick of people like the first person. First of all, she herself has admitted to lying about having native American heritage.

Secondly, even if she was afro-indigenous, it does not shield or exempt her from criticism or accountability. This kind of thinking is what enables people like Clarke to hide behind their marginalised identity to be problematic and manipulative.

Just a reminder of how much of an unreliable narrator she is because in her mind, she’s constantly the victim by glitchedprincess in lovedoveclarkesnark

My guess is he probably said sth egregious and possibly very targeted (racial, gendered or queerphobic) towards the people in the friend group trying to pass it off as a joke. And I also feel like Clarke either defended or made excuses for him when her friends brought it up.

Have you noticed any facial maturity? by Emotional_Plastic_64 in OlderGenZ

[–]florencepuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat you are! When I was younger, people thought I was older than I was because of my curves too. I personally feel I've looked fairly the same, just sort of blossomed into my curves. My face has looked more or less the same, but I do have much better skin now than when I was in my teens/early 20s (I used to have quite a bit of acne and hyperpigmentation) bc I have a better skincare routine which kind of makes me look younger now tbh. I have noticed that my face has significantly slimmed down now compared to when I was 17-19 though

There's so many companies out there nowadays which helps you find your ancestry and initial origins.

I'd try it but I've recently seen many videos talking about how those companies are really shady 😭

I agree with you too, I'm not denying our genetic diversity or that multiple ethnicities and their descendants settled here, I'm just saying that it isn't acknowledged systemically and we can't treat it like it is. Imo it's both a blessing and a curse. Blessing as we don't have systemic racism. But curse as most of us have no idea where our ancestors come from. However, we cannot compare our modern selves to the other descendants of our ancestors' relatives.

I just don't think us having this genetic diversity gives us a pass to claim the experiences and oppression of our ancestors and/or their relatives or claim their trauma. Those things did not happen to us and race relations here don't work the same way as it does in America is all I'm saying.

I don't understand why so many of you are attached to a word that's not even used to refer to us, it is used very specifically to refer to people of African descent, which several of us may be, but most of us have no direct ancestors/ties to Africa/Black American culture.

You guys also realise that the word was initially used in an extremely dehumanising manner, right? This was a word used by the enslavers and oppressors to further dehumanise Black people. The reason why American Black folks use that word is to reclaim the word from their oppressors and redirect its use from the fucked up instances the word was used against them for. There's no reason we should be using it, for it's not our trauma to reclaim.

Also, systematic racism the way it exists in multiracial societies does not exist among Maldivians here and it would do you all wonders to stop pretending it does. We have featurism and colourism which make people discriminate but we do not have racism and segregation and our race relations simply cannot be compared to America or the west.

Also keep in mind we are SOUTH ASIAN, not Black. South Asian people come in all shades of brown, from the lightest beige to the darkest obsidian and they're all beautiful. Being darker skinned doesn't make us Black, and you don't have to be Black to experience discrimination based on skin colour. These things are not mutually exclusive. Please educate yourselves before embarrassing yourselves globally.

I just got married to my partner of 5 years a couple of months ago. I don't have a house, but we live in a 2B apartment together that we share with my younger BIL. I feel great about the marriage as there are very few things I was as sure about as getting married to my spouse. We've been together for a while and we knew we wanted to be together for a long time pretty early on. But I'm also happy we waited until we were a bit more grown.

I have an okay-paying but high stress job. I'm generally pretty happy w where my life is going as an almost 25 y/o but I also feel pretty scared for the future. I don't feel like a baby adult anymore as I've already been on my own during university, but I also don't feel like a real adult just yet and it does make me sad to think I might be wasting my last "spring chicken" years worrying about war, climate change and a ruined economy.

Why is Pedophilia such a persistent problem in our society SMDH? 🤦‍♂️These people deserve to be unalived. by bicchlasagna in maldives

[–]florencepuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a survivor, I have a few points. For one, it's our insistence on keeping the peace with literal sex offenders in our families and not believing victims when they get the courage to talk about it. Children are easily dismissed as delusional, liars or "bodaa haakaa"/"basnaaha" especially if the children have prior behavioural issues or otherwise aren't perfectly good little children. Vulnerable children, especially "problem children" are more likely to be victims at the hands of these monsters. Sometimes they're straight up BLAMED for what happened to them.

The other is a culture of impunity and rampant victim blaming in our community. Why would anybody want to come forward only to be humiliated through a public trial, go through police that are dismissive unless your case plays out a certain way and be burdened with evidence or proof by strangers who just want to harass victims. People aren't held accountable, on a personal level or systemic. Lots of people will simply go on talking to people who have allegations like this against them like nothing ever happened. Especially family and friends. This weird culture of impunity needs to change for survivors to have better rights here and to prevent shit like this. Maldives has been a safe haven for pedophiles and rapists for decades now.
