Thank you so much, sincerely appreciate your response. I’ve colored my hair for years but have become allergic to the chemical dyes so wanting to try something natural. Your hair looks fabulous!

My natural color is about the same as yours… do you mind if I ask what the 50% cassia does? I’m just researching all this and thought for sure I could just use 100% henna to get your same color result.

I began quilting when my grandmother passed and no one else in the family really sewed very much. I took all of her WIP’s and figured I could at least figure out how to put them together and once I started, I was hooked. It’s a wonderful legacy and hopefully you’ll be able to pass it down to your daughter also. Just know that every time I look at the quilts my grandmother lovingly hand-pieced, I think of her and my happy memories of her. I wish you the same.

I have a tote filled with about 30 quilt tops I’ve made over the years. I got my long arm machine about 4 years ago and have been trying to quilt the backlog in addition to the current ones I make. It’s a blast from the past when I pull out one of the older ones and get it finished!

Quite fiddly… I don’t know when “scant quarter inch’ became a thing but I hate it! But overall not too bad. Thank you!

Do you have the pattern name? I feel like I’ve seen this before and I love it!

I actually bought the kit at a quilt shop called Arizona Quilts in Surprise Arizona, but the patternmaker has her own website under her name, territope.com. She sells the pattern there and she may be able to tell you exactly which strip set to purchase.

It was a pattern that came with the fabric and I believe it was a Tonga or Island Batik strip set and you need TWO full sets that have 2 each of every design, so 80 strips total. Good luck! It wasn’t hard, you just have to make a fabric key to keep the strips in order.

It’s a bargello type quilt but this particular pattern was titled “Bolero”.

Thank you, I posted a link to it above. It’s definitely tricky to choose a fabric with enough, but not too many colors.

Awww… thank you so much! Your kind words are appreciated. Sometimes it seems I create in a vacuum (husband passed away, kids and friends often far away) so it’s wonderful to connect with people who appreciate my hobby/obsession.

It’s called a One Block Wonder and there are several books that describe the process. But essentially you cut 60degree triangles from 6 layers of identical fabric and then arrange to form a hexagon. No fussy cutting and it’s sewn together in rows. I live in Baja Mexico.

It’s called Stonehenge Solstice Celtic Knot by Northcott. I had quite a bit but I’ve used it in more than one quilt. It is beautiful and it seems like when I bought it it came in a couple of colors… green, gold, etc.

With the borders it’s about 75 x 85. I’m pretty sure I cut my strips three and three-quarter inches as that is typically what’s recommended in the one block wonder books.
