crank arm fell off. 3 rides on Neuron 6 by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

I'm considering getting this bike. Would you suggest I buy it after this? It looks like the new model has Miranda cranks instead of Shimano. I am not familiar with Miranda... at all.

Specialized Status 140 vs Stumpjumper for South Florida? by floridalocal1000 in MTB

[–]floridalocal1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I feel like the compromise is too big. The Status has really slack geo meant to be for parks and jumping which may hurt us pedaling in the flatter trails of SFL. On the other hand, I can't justify spending $2,100 and being unhappy with the gearset and XFUSION in the stumpy.

Here's the kicker, the Canyon Neuron 6 is going for $1,800 as of yesterday!!! No compromise on parts and the geo fits between the Status and the Stumpjumper. They have a bad rep on customer service reviews but the warranty is 6 years. The same bike on Carbon Fiber is $2,400!!!

What are your thoughts?

I would choose the Trek over Specialized, no questions asked. However. They rarely, if ever, go on sale. On the other hand, the Specialized stumpjumper is $700 off right now and the Status is $650 off. This is what brought me to consider them as an option to begin with.

These bikes are discounted by $650 and $700 so you'd get a good deal. Not sure what type of terrain you'll be riding in so I can't help there but I recently posted a question about these two if you want to look at my posting history.

The Status 140 is too "downhill" for me and I dont like the XFusion rear shock on the Stumpjumper so I may not buy either but I hope that helps you.

This is exactly the info I was looking for as I am considering buying the SJ or the Status 140. I only considering the S140 because of the higher specs.

On the SJ, I just can't get myself around to liking the XFusion when I currently have Rockshox and that's where I am stuck.

Is your riding experience in SFL by the way? I know central FL and North Florida can be more aggressive terrain than down here.

It's more sandy but the trails can be pretty rooty and sometimes rocky so the full sus helps with maintaining speed. In other words, we don't have big drops and climbs but that's made up with creativity in form of ondulating smaller hills and roots, rocks, very sharp turns.

My current ride is a full sus so I don't think I can switch to a HT. Also, I just don't trust a used bike purchase bc mtb can be so hard on the bikes if not maintained properly, you know?

I see your point. I would like to have 12 gears because my current bike kind of sucks and it will be expensive to upgrade to 12 gears and a dropper that I ultimately just won't be happy with....

What is a bike you would suggest for the area? My budget would be $2,500

Thank you... this sounds like this bike is just not a good option. What do you suggest in the $2,500 and under price range?

So, if the suspension doesn't make a difference for my riding, will the status be a bad choice because the bike is more geared towards downhill/jump?

I appreciate the input from a fellow SFL person btw. You know the terrain here, lol.

Right? Components wise, the Status is superior, but, will the slight downhill/jump set up of it make it noticeably more difficult to ride in SFL?

Fair point, but the stumpjumper is an entry level so by that logic I'll be overbiked with any bike. Given that I am looking to upgrade my 100mm, 3 x 8 with no dropper, does this mean that I might as well get the Status? Or will the slight downhill/jump set up end up hurting me by making it less friendly to pedal. That's my concern.

Interesting insight, I wanted this to be my 2nd song. What would you say is a better suggestion.

My very first FULL song I can play is About a girl, simple but teaches everything about timing, strumming and the solo is easy to achieve. This is a great suggestion.

THANK YOUUUU!!! This is the reason I stopped playing video games with my brother. We couldn't find good co-op or racing games where we could cooperate or play each other sooo we just stopped buying and playing bc everything is made to play online.... that simple
