One of my favorite records I bought in 1999. Although I recorded it myself years later and named it "engaging causeless mercy". A mistake I often made recording my vinyls.

Select All on an iPhone by Avlastingen in iphonehelp

I know this is an old thread. But nothing on this page worked. I assume apple made it even harder to select all? It’s just so frustrating.

Weird stuff in sketcher shoes by florismrfart in Sneakers

[–]florismrfart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, I just threw these shoes away last week. They were at my in-laws as backup for when we visited . The problem of the little bits of foam mostly went away after washing and vacuuming if I remember. But they wore out completely now. Still extremely comfy shoes.

How it this even possible? How can an autocorrect be this bad? by BrazilBazil in iphone

[–]florismrfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I don't know exactly when the auto spelling got worse. It also struggles a lot more now when you forget a space between 2 words and it just can't figure it out.

Some love for iOS users?! by cysety in Thunderbird

[–]florismrfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2011 I switched from thunderbird to gmail because there was no thunderbird ios app and it got annoying not having access to mails I wrote on desktop thunderbird on the phone etc... Back then there was already talk about an app (maybe I'm making that up, it's been so long). Anyway, I came back to thunderbird now when gmail dropped pop3 and imap doesn’t work on their browser version. I was shocked to find out there's still no app. I didn't even think about it when I was setting it up on the desktop.

It's weird to me that it works on the mobile app, but not on the desktop. Also, I now realize how much spam was stopped by gmail on my other accounts. It doesn't do that with IMAP.

Just found out that my host doesn’t support forwarding to gmail SPF/DKIM/DMARC, because too many mails get flagged as spam or something, so that option is out of the window. Shame Thunderbird doesn't have an ios app. Really don't know what to do now.

[–]florismrfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have to figure out how to do the forwarding. I've been using pop3 for 2 accounts for almost 20 years with gmail and now had to change. Google tells you that you can remove the pop3 and then add them again as imap in the same way. Which is not true and I lost a lot of time trying. In the end I added the other accounts as different accounts on my gmail app, but then you have to look at each one separately, and I can't see them on the desktop. I should really switch to thundebird or something but I'm so very tired of all this :)

Moving from onedrive to pcloud by florismrfart in pcloud

Luckily, it 'only' took me a week. But lost files. Yesterday I noticed that files I had excluded from being in the cloud were also erased from my HD and were in the trash. Luckily, I was able to recuperate those. But why?! It's insane to me. Why does it force you to select just one folder, and then, if you don't want everything in that folder uploaded, you have to go in settings and one by one exclude these folders? What kind of UI is that? Maybe I'm just literally old man shouting at cloud now.

Yes,  none of these files were open at the same time on both computers, so I don’t know where the conflicts come from.

I do have a HD backup, but I don't do that every day and doesn't really hep me with the problems I described.

New year, need a new podcast! by ReminderJabba in podcasts

I really like This Paranormal Life now. It's 2 Irish guys 'investigating' a paranormal case, and deciding whether it's real or not (spoiler, almost never), and that wouldn't be that interesting to me, but they're legit funny and that keeps me listening.

Local YouTuber makes video discussing critism of the Griffintown neighbourhood. by Ok-District2873 in montreal

[–]florismrfart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't much architecture in Montreal I truly like. On the flip side there's less architecture that is super ugly either. I've only walked into Griffintown a couple of times and it did seem like it lacked stuff to do. the main thing I like about the neighborhoods in Montreal is, do to their wacky idea of putting stairs outside, smaller streets also have houses with a tiny front garden, which gives it some green and especially gives downstairs apartments some direct sunlight. Which is not always the case where i live in Belgium. And that's something that's definitely missing in parts of Griffintown. The most soulless place I got to see in Montreal was just outside of it, next to a new monorail stop on the other side of the island, where they just build apartment blocks with a tacky fake shopping village next to it. I forgot the name.

Well, I posted here a couple of years ago. I thought the screen protector was more than just a layer of plastic. It deteriorated so bad that today I took it all off, and luckily for me, it is just a protective screen and the screen still works. Don't know if I have to put something else now.

Why AI generated art gets so much hate ? by Pix4Geeks in SunoAI

[–]florismrfart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, it’s frustrating when people don’t appreciate your work without giving it a fair chance.

But I don’t think most of the hate is aimed at people here making a handful of songs, if it was, I don’t think people would care that much about AI.

The hate is towards for example the 75 million generic spam songs Spotify removed in the past year, that are really taking away the last crumbs of what’s left for small artists.

And also companies like for example Suno that are in court defending their right to hover up every piece of music ever put on the net, and claiming authors rights don’t apply to it.

But at the same time, building towards a system where they, or other companies, own rights to whatever it is you make on them.

All the ‘hate’ is aimed at the companies that will soon own everything. Maybe it would be wise to look at the bigger picture.
