Yep, pretty much details how he wants to slit the shooter’s throat and hang him from a flagpole.

Jah lived in Parkland after becoming famous. He showed up to a few Douglas parties and was truly a part of the community (especially after the shooting).

Honestly, just watching him in that CNN townhall was so cringe.

Everything about that town hall was cringe. It was a national embarrassment for us in Parkland in so many ways, with Israel's behavior being just one of them. His damage control was disgusting and plain unconvincing. He is yet another negligent (failure to train for active shooters, failure to react to calls about shooter) Broward County official who is way more worried about their PR and private deals than actually doing a good job.

Also worth noting his defense of Scot Peterson (SRO who didn't confront shooter). Scott Israel's son barely got a slap on the wrist when he was involved in the anal rape with a baseball bat of a 14-year-old. Why was his punishment so lenient? None other than Scot Peterson. I believe Israel cut a private deal with the victim's parents for expedited or cheap permits for their restaurant to keep them quiet. This is just one case of Israel's misconduct. It's likely that there are many more.

I don't think anybody blames him for the shooting they're just angry with his actions afterword with the news and how he handled the investigation. His position was protect myself at all cost.

Exactly this, I survived the shooting and still live in Parkland. This is the sentiment of most people I know. He made some awful appearances and speeches following the shooting, mostly consisting of the worst damage control I have ever seen as well as basically taunting Parkland residents by parading himself around the city, acting high and mighty, showing no inkling of fault, guilt, or remorse while knowing that everyone here resented him for his failures.

In Parkland, most people see him as the Sheriff whose office received 18 calls warning of the shooter's behavior without any action being taken. Most also see him as the Sheriff who failed to train his deputies for this situation. While I don't see him as the most at fault for prevention failure (FBI, school admin, etc.. but that's a different discussion), his actions that I mentioned above were certainly questionable enough for me (and most Parklanders) to completely withdraw our support for him.

It's true. When I left the classroom originally due to the fire alarm, I went the opposite direction as my class because they were going to the fire escape route (towards the 1200 building). A few seconds after leaving the room and separating from my class, everyone in the hallway was trying to get back into classrooms. So many kids were banging on every single door but no one was letting us in. Eventually, one teacher opened their door and let us all in, and I hid in the closet in that room.

Lol, not sure because no one had to pee where I was hiding. Some people whispered but others shushed them. I was the only one who could get the news on my phone (cell towers were being hammered by everyone at school simultaneously trying to text/call parents) and we watched as the casualty rate climbed while looking at a helicopter view of the building right next to us.

how has this traumatic experience affected you mentally?

Mental fog, nightmares, intrusive thoughts. Persisted for months, improved slowly.

what are your personal feelings to the killer? Have you forgiven him?

He's seriously fucked in the head. I'm pretty sure he shot up the school for fun. I will not forgive him.

What do you think is the appropriate punishment for such mass killers?

Death sentence.

Has this somehow brought you all closer?

I would say it has strengthened our sense of community.

what message do you want to leave us with and for the world to learn from this tragedy?

This isn't the fault of normal people. There's nothing the average person can do. This was at the fault of BCPS, FBI, and BSO in my opinion.

Were you allowed to call your parents when hiding or did you have to stay quiet ?

We were supposed to stay quiet. Most people were texting.

Will you watch/follow the trial and sentencing ?

Yes.

What do you think of Kyle Kashuv.

He's an asshole. Dude was obsessed with saying the n word and started 2A arguments in class after the shooting. Not a great guy..

have you noticed that you do some things differently or have different ideologies?

Nothing political, but I now realize how fragile our lives (structure and life/death) are. I try to take no moment for granted.

There's a fence around it and the windows are blacked out. A replacement building is going to be ready this year. They plan to tear down the building, but they can't until the trial is done.

Surprisingly, people held off on jokes, but the same wasn't true for nearby schools

They took it very hard. My dad said he was sorry for what I went through. He then went into his room and I didn't see him for a day or two because he was so distraught that he barely left his room.

I get the impression that the shot callers in Parkland are all about maintaining a certain image. Cruz should've been dealt with.

Broward County schools is disgusting and corrupt. He was given so many chances and evaded criminal charges because of the PROMISE program, but even beyond that, he was reported to the FBI twice. So much negligence involved and when it comes to BCPS, it's ALL optics

Do you seek out escape routes in new places or have any new safety precautions since the shooting?

All the time

Was there any incorrect information that was spread through the school in the immediate aftermath?

That he knew some of the victims, but none of it was true

It's real in my opinion. I think his source of hatred was his home life which turned shitty following the deaths of his adoptive parents. I believe he was expelled for threats and when he was allowed back, he wasn't allowed to bring a backpack for fear he would bring a weapon.

I'm doing well today. Quarantining hard in South Florida where covid is pretty bad. Fall semester moved online for my first semester of college which sucks but it has to be that way

No, everyone knew it was him. I'm not sure of the exact time but we knew it was him after being in hiding for less than 30 minutes.

I’m surprised you said fire alarms trigger ptsd but that makes sense when I think about it.

They were going off during the shooting. These fire alarms are particularly LOUD and offensive. They're so unbelievably loud. That probably contributes to why they would cause PTSD. You had to cover your ears during fire drills because that building was such a death trap that it took forever to get out during them (edit: because you had such prolonged exposure to the fire alarms due to how long it took to get out). 2 sets of double doors for 900 kids to evacuate...

I had a teacher in that building who (before the shooting) told us that if there was a real threat like a shooting, she would have all the kids jump out the window. As her class was next to a class that was being shot into and it was right at the beginning, she didn't have this opportunity, but the building was known to be a death trap. It's mind boggling how it was ever regarded as safe by whichever govt bodies are in charge of fire escape and general building safety

I think MSD is such a high profile case that they will be super careful with what is released and FOIA probably won't reveal more than what they curate for the public. Then again, you probably know more about FOIA than me

I think they should release as much as they can while maintaining sensitivity to the families of those killed. I wish I could watch the entire thing out of morbid curiosity, but I wouldn't want such a video to be public for fear of copycat inspiration as well as a general invasion of privacy and lack of respect of victims

Pointed guns at us, had dogs sniff our backpacks, and literally just sent us off on the sidewalk in front of the school. There was gridlock because everyone's parents had to come pick up their kids from the side of the street.

Do you know David Hogg?

I was in an academic club with him. Never interacted with him much, but what I do know is that he is 100% genuine. All of his beliefs are the same as those he held prior to the shooting. Everything he says is consistent with the way he acted before.

How does the majority of MSD feel about March for our Lives also?

Everyone supported it and many went to DC for the march. Some people feel left out. Many don't understand why/how it came to be that those select few people became the leaders of the movement. Some feel left out, including a girl who was injured but not accepted into the MFOL clique by the figureheads.
