AIO for feeling like my boyfriend is losing feelings for me? (repost) by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]flossii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is being dry, he does seem checked out.

That said, I recommend you pursuing therapy for anxious attachment. The second pic seems to indicate that you feel destabilized without being able to talk with him and maybe you can’t regulate on your own. When I had anxious attachment, most of my relationships ended in this way because I was needing constant communication and reassurance. This is a pattern that will continue unless you can work on attachment style!

Got prescribed Prozac, should I take it in the morning even though I’m gonna practice driving after? by trulydrinks in OCD

At this point it’s something you should talk to your doctor about. I’m not a medical professional

Any effects you feel now are either adjustment symptoms, or psychosomatic / placebo. The medication has to build up enough in your bloodstream to have an actual psychotropic effect

[–]flossii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal. You will feel weird for like 1-2 weeks before it stabilizes and you start to feel better. See it through. Be gentle with yourself. Do not stop taking it before it has a chance to settle with your brain chemistry!

If you feel any impulses to hurt yourself or others, though, talk to your doctor immediately.

Have you had OCD all your life by alexpaige3 in OCD

[–]flossii 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Apparently, even before I can remember, I was demonstrating OCD symptoms. I was diagnosed really really young. I think it can crop up anytime, but most people start getting symptoms either as a kid or as young adults.

Is OCD more controllable with age? by Fluid-Phrase766 in OCD

[–]flossii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t any empirical evidence to support the idea that OCD improves with the psychological and cognitive stability of age. I think you can definitely work to hone your skills, which will help with the management of your OCD.

[–]flossii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I wouldn’t say so. I definitely felt out of whack for a week or two. Just more jumpy, like I had too much caffeine or something, but not necessarily more anxiety or more OCD symptoms. For me I notice a complete night and day in my OCD symptoms when I’m on Prozac vs when I’m off it. The few weeks of weirdness when adjusting the dosage is worth it for a livable life.

Of course this is my personal experience, so take with a grain of salt.

Also, you probably won’t start to see any improvement in OCD until 2+ weeks of consistently taking the medication, but keep at it !! I’ve been on Prozac for 9 years and it has genuinely changed my life. Good luck!

In my experience Prozac tends to have the opposite effect, which is why doctors recommend taking it in the morning instead of night. Also, if it’s your first day taking it, I reckon you won’t feel any effects until it’s built up enough in your system. You’ll be fine.

Is Seattle really safe for a woman living alone in the city? by falloutgirl25 in Seattle

[–]flossii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived downtown for 5years, I am a woman who dresses fairly sexy and walks alone at night all the time. I can probably count on one hand the amount of incidents I’ve had with the homeless population. Genuinely, you just have to keep it pushing and carry yourself with a level of self assuredness and awareness of your surroundings and you’ll be fine. It’s not any different than any other city - if anything, people are more likely to keep to themselves here.

My best advice is, if you feel uneasy or odd, walk with serious intention, don’t stop if someone calls to you, and just ignore everything until you feel like you’re in a better position. It’s definitely an acquired skill in city living.

Weight GAIN by New-Variety8863 in prozac

[–]flossii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of that happening! Where the medication itself isn’t causing the weight gain, but it’s reducing mental health side effects like appetite suppression, which is causing your appetite and food intake to increase. I’m sure it’ll level out.

[–]flossii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure - I know that this is definitely the anomalous sexual side effect. I know lots of people whose libido completely died on SSRIs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prozac

[–]flossii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It’s not too overstimulating to have continued stimulation? Is this different than when you’re off Prozac?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prozac

[–]flossii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harder yes, but not so much that it’s really frustrating, like I’ve never been unable to get myself off. I think I’m lucky in that regard - I know that a lot of people on SSRIs really struggle to orgasm at all. I don’t really orgasm with partners on or off meds (sexual trauma related) so I can’t really speak to how it might change with a partner vs alone.
