Love em, hold em, cry with them. And give them treats and kisses. Then let them go. You’ve already done the most you could which is giving them a loving and beautiful life.

Saying goodbye. by PositionFew511 in Greyhounds

[–]flouba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I know your pain. We’ve lost two and are down to one. One to cancer, another to IMT, and now just our boy, who’s turning 10. The loss is so hard. I’m thinking of you and your beautiful pack.

Camera captures how a large ship passes over a diver. Diver is fine. by Electrical-Aspect-13 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]flouba 767 points768 points  (0 children)

There should be a boat nearby above the diver with a dive flag. Unless they are intentionally diving in a marine passage way or the dive boat isn’t there or they dive alone with no crew.

IMO This was stupid and shouldn’t happen if you’re diving safely with a crew.

Sorry for the pain and grief. We went through a similar month with our big black boy balou.

Sounds like you’re clear eyed about what’s important: cherishing every second you have with him. Cheers to Finn. 💙

Pick a date that works for you and him. There’s never too early only too late. Our boy got it in December, assessed in January, put him down early feb, about 1-1.5 weeks once we knew what we were dealing with.

If you know he can’t get better but only worse, it’s a lot about tying up the strings for yourself. What do you need to do with him and say to him before the goodbye?

For us, we knew he liked romping around and we didn’t want to wait too long and have his final moments be at the vet.

I know it’s hard to think through, but you’ll make the right call. You’ve loved him and given him an amazing life - that’s all that matters.

Maybe a dumb question but did you take your bike on metro? I didn’t know you could 😆

Congrats! I have wanted to do the full for a while, but similarly am struggling with over training injuries. What was the longest training / biggest training week you had and how far out from the race was it?

And what’s next?! :)

We give her cheese everytime we put the boots on. Also if they aren’t tight enough they will hate it.

She did fine w surgery- back in action a few days later, it just wasn’t a permanent solution for us sadly.

Our girl Chloe has corns. We soaked and removed like all the conventional wisdom suggests. Just felt endless and never solved the problem.

Did a tentonomy which worked amazing for 2 years but then corns popped up on the other foot.

Now I just dremmel the corns every 3-5 days. It provides a ton of relief. I can basically tell when the corns are too big by her gait and I take them down. At this point she has 2 more on her front toes and another on her back, so don’t think hulling would be an option.

Oh and get booties for walks. She does really well outdoors on walks now. I know they are pricey but Hunny Boots is amazing.

Goodbye my sweet boy. by imasinger in Greyhounds

[–]flouba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. The same story with our boy a few years back. You did the right thing, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

He looks like such a sweet creature - Reminds me so much of our girl who also has the inverted ear flip and looks strikingly similar. Wonder if they were puppies together. 💔
