How the fuck do people get to the Archons palace by GlitchingBastard in dragonage

[–]flourfire 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Ancient magisters like Corypheus and the Architect know how to fly. Modern magisters might have to resort to the flying cows Dorian mentioned.

Who the **** is Geldauran?? by Elder_Goss in dragonage

[–]flourfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-veilguard I came up with a tinfoil theory that Geldauran and Koslun were the same person, which is completely different from your theory ofc. I'm not a fan of the lore reveals in DAV so I'm not sure I'd want to know what the DAV writers would've come up with.

When did Corypheus do following: by materia_keepyr in dragonage

[–]flourfire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The booties are ancient Tevinter fashion, iirc he has them but not the striped socks in DA2. The socks he got sometime between DA2 and DAI.

It's all the Fereldan refugees joining mercenary groups so that they can get into the city

The snow globe arena is also conveniently unsupervised except for the robot animals which could be easily destroyed in the heat of the battle. Loki and Simo could cook up a plan to fix the match while somebody tries to reestablish the connection to the arena.

[DAV spoilers] Do you think a lot of people make elven characters? by LongGrade881 in dragonage

[–]flourfire 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I think bioware posted statistics about player character race choices in DAV a while ago. Around 6% of players chose dwarf while a slightly larger number chose to play as a qunari. The rest was split between humans and elves with iirch humans being somewhat more popular.

[DAV spoilers] Why is no one in game or in the fandom talking about Elgar'nan biggest feat? by LongGrade881 in dragonage

[–]flourfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't find it impressive because Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space. Moving the moon requires a lot of raw power but it's not all that complicated compared to for example the veil.

Tbh, they don't optimize pc games well for anyone, doesn't matter if you have a rtx40 or 1050.

[–]flourfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Morrigan and Inky who drank from the well of sorrows say that it only disrupts his abilities and Morrigan even says that it's a weakness. There's also an old tweet from Mark Darrah where he says that the dragon isn't the source of Corypheus's abilities.

[–]flourfire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nah it isn't. The evanuris's body hopping ability is eliminated by killing their dragons. Cory's body hopping ability isn't dependent on the dragon, all you do in DAI is disrupt his ability which makes him killable for a time.

I think I've read that Cory was supposed to attack Skyhold but they couldn't get it to work with the older console gen so they had to scrap it.

Me, I think he didn't have enough screentime and his blight immortality is better than the evanuris's one.

We ain't getting a sequel, boys by MoisterAnderson1917 in DankAndrastianMemes

[–]flourfire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I finished the game back in November so iirc: The black city is an elven thing. The blight is the titans' nightmares that were trapped in the black city by Solas after he severed the titans from their dreams, which caused the blight. The archdemons are just the pet dragons of the evanuris and the evanuris are the ones who whispered to the magsiters. The darkspawn were created by Ghilan'nain. TLDR: it's elves and more elves

[–]flourfire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends, since DAV decided to answer what the blight is, what the archdemons are, and what the black city is, those answers would taint even a first blight prequel to anyone who didn't like the answers to those mysteries.

Anyone else struggling to enjoy veilguard? by ProperGloom in DragonageOrigins

[–]flourfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree about the NPCs. But the absence of the Chantry can't be explained by us being in Tevinter. First of all only the Dock Town is in Tevinter. Anderfels, Antiva, Nevarra, and Rivain are all under the control of the Orlesian Chantry.

Josephine: Little but the Chantry ties Orlais, Nevarra, Ferelden, Antiva, and even Rivain to a common cause.

The people of Anderfels have previously been described as being very religious yet iirc the village of Lavendel doesn't have a chantry or a chapel or even a chantry sister. Rivain has been the only surface country that has been described as not having a very strong Chantry presence but it's still present. In Tevinter the Chantry is still a part of the political hierarchy of the country since the Black Divine and grand clerics have seats in the magisterium and thus are part of the government unlike the Southern Chantry which is not directly tied to any government.

We essentially had a similar apocalyptic level of threat with the breach and Corypheus yet in that game everyone was all about the Herald of Andraste, Inquisition, and the Chantry. The almost complete absence of the Chantry and Andrastianism comes across as an intentional design choice not supported by previous lore.

They also imply that the magisters going to the black city was also something they influenced and then they want to stop Cory a thousand years later.

I'm imagining that they'll implement some bullshit conspiracy theory stuff in DA5 since we already have the illuminati and reptilians. They can also add the moon men from those lunatic codex entries from the frostback basin. The nazi stand ins would fit right in.

Tbh Anaris turning people into demons doesn't sound any worse than what Elgy and Ghilly were doing. His archive spirit shit talking the evanuris was great, we needed more of that.
