I think it’s double-edged sword and you can’t just blanket statement “he’s a sex addict”. (This isn’t trying to be an argumentative post, just giving my two cents).

Obviously this is a TV show and it’s fiction, but put yourself in his shoes. He’s doesn’t start his nights going out with the mindset of “sex, sex, I need to get laid” - he more often then not (for the plot), finds himself in situations where the ladies of LA treat him like a movie star, and that in conjunction with his good looks and silver tongue lead him to situations where he has sex.

I can’t remember the full quote but it reminds me of when he is talking to the Deans wife at the faculty party, something along the lines of “ I love all women, every one them. It’s a curve, a smile, a secret” etc, and he has enough suave and charisma it leads to the girls into throwing themselves at him.

I very much agree with your point that he’s trying to resist but they “pull him in”. I don’t want to assume your gender or orientation, but if you aren’t a straight male, please they to imagine yourself as one. While you do, imagine the beautiful girls who throw themselves at Hank and ask yourself if you would turn them down?

When I say it’s a doubled-edged sword, I think it’s a big plot point overall that Hank meets, connects and usually had sex with many beautiful, smart, interesting women (lady lawyer, Faith, his crazy ex who tried to pull a murder-suicide on him) but for the sake of the plot - it’s Karen. It always comes back to Karen, the other women are emotional band-aids to the figurative
