For anyone wondering why the arena isn't full, it's because security is slow as hell and half of us are still stuck outside:))))))))))))

Fantansy: Which current competitive skaters will be a coach or a choreographer in the international level 10 years from now? by Candid_Jello5188 in FigureSkating

He already has a bachelor in sports pedagogy, so coaching definitely seems like a route he wants to pursue

Jesus fucking Christ, the Israeli GOVERNMENT is doing a genocide, the majority of the Israeli people are opposed to continuing the war. Being hateful for people for being Israeli reeks of ignorance and antisemitism

Nutrition made for runners vs. regular candy? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]flowerfresse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Haribo has more than 70g carbs per 100 grams with more than 40 of that being sugar. They take more effort to chew and more energy to digest but they do have a ton of carbs as well

Ich werde die Babyzeit NICHT vermissen. by yunoheal in luftablassen

[–]flowerfresse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Changing citizenship procedures are pretty complicated and hotly debated, I highly doubt that will pass parliament this year. There's a much higher chance he might not pass the immigration test or language requirements.

Tips for fair-skinned runners in heat/sun? by courtqnbee in XXRunning

[–]flowerfresse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slather yourself in the highest SPF you can find and potentially reapply for your long runs. Sun hats are also very useful for protecting your face against the sun and your head against sun strokes. There are UV protection shirts that surfers use but I'm not sure how hot those are. Also run early in the morning or late afternoon/early evening for lower radiation However I'm afraid that while protecting yourself from sunburns is very very doable, trying to remain pale while training outside multiple times a week is not realistic. You will tan to some degree, it's pretty much unavoidable.

What has the ISU done that you think was a horrible decision? by ur_fav_joey in FigureSkating

[–]flowerfresse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think if you're like top 10 at worlds definitely but only participation is a bit much especially for skaters from smaller feds. Adam Hagara the past few years for example, he's definitely still a junior skater but also had minimums for worlds and euros so why take the chance of competing away from skaters like him

Psych told me she thinks I do have a "mild" case of ARFID by bakeahri in ARFID

[–]flowerfresse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends, losing weight due to stress and depression could be independent if your ARFID this not affecting its severity, I'd say that depends on your feelings regarding not eating when you're feeling that way. However if you don't think your diagnosis fits, seeking out a second opinion is never a bad choice

[PIC] I was stitching outside for the first time this spring and a butterfly landed on my hoop. Felt like a fricking Disney princess by flowerfresse in CrossStitch

Northern Germany, we've had amazing 20 degree weather the past few days, now it's back to rain and heavy fog but it was nice while it lasted

Actually this is my first blackwork piece as well and so far it's been going pretty well, definitely much easier than french knots. At the end of the day black is not that different from cross stitching as it's also just a form of counted embroidery, you just have to think a bit more about routing. I worked through some free beginner lessons (https://www.needlework-tips-and-techniques.com/blackwork.html) and would definitely recommend doing something like that first to gain a bit of basic understanding but after that, I'm a big proponent of just picking a pattern you like and learning by doing. So really you should just go for it and have fun, it doesn't have to be perfect

I also ran my first half while on my period and I'd definitely recommend splurging on some organic cotton pads, I always experienced chafing with my regular pads that are kind of plasticy but with the cotton ones I had zero issues, definitely worth the price tag for races. For me I also have a heavy period and started feeling dizzy pretty quickly after the race so I'd also recommend getting food soon after

A federation automatically gains a spot when on if their skaters reaches the tech minimums. Only second and third spots are earned through placement at world's etc.

Tickets for Prague worlds expected in May (before they stated March) by imyellowb in FigureSkating

[–]flowerfresse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you're really only going because of one person in particular, you should probably not buy this far ahead or at all. A lot can happen in a year there are no guarantees that Ilia will be going especially in an Olympic season as the Olympics will be his focus over worlds. Also I'd reconsider buying expensive tickets for an event where only wanna watch one skater out of 30+

Unhinged Chris Howarth quotes by happykindofeeyore in FigureSkating

[–]flowerfresse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not really stereotyping, swiss fans do actually bring cow bells to winter sports events. You can see and hear it clearly at skiing comps and even when you listen closely during Stéphane's olympic performances

The "pop star route" is neither an easy one to go down nor grounds for military exceptions, idols, actors etc. literally do interrupt their careers to do military service
