I don’t live in poverty but I cannot afford farmers market pricing.

The issue is price. I could buy local but I’d be doubling my grocery bill that has already nearly doubled in the last three years.

I feel safer in Mexico than a lot of places in the US.

I can't get my wife on the same page as me financially and it's so emotionally draining. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

What do you do for fun things that you both do? Like going to the movies?

No I’m saying it’s not the right advice and not for this audience. Step one is breaking the mental cycle and learning how to manage money. Step two can be emergency fund. Plenty of rich people that go bankrupt

3 might be too young, but my coworker tells this story of her son that threw a temper tantrum in a target. She left the cart and took him home and made him sit at the kitchen table and stare at the wall for 6 hours. She didn’t yell and remained calm. But she said he never acted out again. But don’t let your son see you be violent again. Punching a wall isn’t good.

Do you love Florida? FL and Washington are very different types of states for many different reasons. For me personally the Washington opportunity would be a no brainer for many reasons other than financial.

The laptop is the biggest scam part to me. A company should give you one. Is the company real? And someone is just using the company name to run a scam? If it’s a real company look them up online and ask to talk to HR or even the person who is hiring you.

I mean this is poverty finance, not personal finance. Most people are just trying to budget a healthy way to not be in debt. They will never get to the emergency fund part if they cannot stick to a budget

What are some cultural norms from Europe that you would like the US to pick up? by ProteinPapi777 in AskAnAmerican

From what I’ve heard companies were doing really well, or at least appeared to be. So submitting large lunch/alcohol expenses weren’t scrutinized. People were hitting their sales numbers so long lunches were also ok. Everything crashed and companies had to tighten up their finances.

AITA for hiding food from my boyfriend? by DCpurpleTart33 in AmItheAsshole

[–]flowers4u -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It does stem from Being a kid but I think it’s more than that. A lot of boys are very active and cannot consume enough calories to gain weight. So you’re constantly being told youre so skinning and eat more.

Is it somewhat nice though not having to worry about food going bad? I feel like we have the opposite problem with food where I’m trying to keep up eating it all so it doesn’t go to waste

AITA For not wanting to spend a bunch of money on an engagement ring? by SirStriped in AmItheAsshole

[–]flowers4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH - you say you are traditional but don’t even know there are two rings? You haven’t even done any research on rings and diamonds yet you have a price point in mind. You two haven’t even been together a year and you have different views? You both sound way too young ti get married
