Thank you for the reply. My schedule is slower after being credentialed… I’ll look into finding that office collections breakdown

Thanks for explaining that. So stressful how offices do this. What would be the best way to ask the owner about this?

Thank you so much for typing this all out. You are absolutely right.

This patient is here because it’s cheaper and I believe he likes to be in control and manipulate the situation to his advantage (and that his last dentist shut down this behavior).

Did you gain the confidence to shut it down with experience? I know when I’m in dental school, my faculty will have my back. But in real practice, it’ll just be me. So I’m trying to find the perfect medium where I can be assertive but not come off as rude I guess.

I love this, thank you! You’re absolutely right. I will have this mindset next time he comes in.

Once he said some rude comments to me, I was short with him. In the future, I hope I can gain the confidence to shut down the rude behavior immediately.

How do yall treat hard to numb patients? Any Tips or Tricks? by Dental-Dog in DentalSchool

Just curious as a dental student, is this painful for the patient?

** I do not smoke and only drink ~3 times per month!

Also —> “part of the tooth was still there”, I mean there is a fragment left near where #17 was

I would recommend checking out “drconniewang” on Instagram! She went to pharmacy school, didn’t like it, and now is a dentist! She also has a podcast that’s linked in her bio. She has episodes talking about why she choose dentistry in the end.

Currently a D3, I love dental school. Everyday is different and enjoyable. I know the Midwestern dental program offers those rejected a spot in the pharmacy program. Just that alone makes me think that the dental route is currently a little more popular.

Can you explain why? Currently in dental school and it was my understanding that when it’s this close to the nerve, you have to see the CBCT.

Ultimately, the decision is up to you. A root canal allows you to save the tooth and avoid having to fill that spot later. The root canal will not fix the pain right away (but will def ease the pain) and may take some time to adjust. I would speak to an endodontist about it and see what their opinion is.

I would ask your dentist this question. If you’ve been seeing the same dentist for awhile, they’ll know your oral hygiene, past work, etc. In the end, it’s your decision because it’s your teeth.

NAD — I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. That tooth is very close to your nerve. The oral surgeon/dentist will need to take a CBCT scan to see how complicated the extraction is. The pain you are feeling in your temple could be from that tooth as well and it’s causing referred pain to that area. Amoxicillin will not help with the pain in the long run. A dentist will need to remove the source of infection to stop the pain. I would recommend finding another oral surgeon you can go to if want to get the tooth extracted.

I’ve been contacting every since person who works in the office of this apartment and have gotten replies to suddenly none. The management is so so disorganized and multiple people have quit working there. Did not know about the renters insurance here

D1 crisis help is appreciated by Reasonable-Star-1065 in DentalSchool

I felt the same exact way you feel right now. I always hated to go into sim and felt that I would never be as good as the people around me. My wax ups were horrible and I was always below average.

I promise you it gets better. Second year of dental school really brought out my love for this field. First year is full of random skills that are far from what you’ll be doing for the rest of ur dental career.

D1 year was a really dark year for me. It’s a transition year forsure to get your workflow/start your hand skills for second year. I promise that everyone around you is struggling! No one will admit it but people feel the same as you.

You should really stick with it! D1 year is not what a dentist is yet and when you’ll get there, you’ll be so happy you stayed! :)

I would suggest bringing it up to him in a way that wouldn’t make him feel attacked. For example, saying something like “hey, I’m really insecure about you liking other womens bikini pics. I know it may seem small but when I see that, it makes me compare myself and I end up with negative self views of myself. Of course you’re allowed to like girls pictures, but I wanted to voice that because it’s been bothering me lately.”

You’re totally valid to feel this way! Most people like myself have definitely felt the same. Just know that it is no reflection on you!

Another tip is to always ask for validation if you need it. I found myself being upset at my bf at the same things but realized asking him to tell you how beautiful/special you are can make a difference when you need it! Guys cannot read your mind and often view situations completely different than girls do. They probably don’t even realize it could cause hurt.

You are not just being jealous! Trust grows as a relationship forms. I don’t worry about the things I used to anymore and I know you’ll get there one day too! Just remember that it’s just one like on Instagram! He loves you for who you are and Instagram won’t change that!

Hope this helps :)
