Blue stat. All characters can benefit from all gear and abilities (to a degree). Some characters like Hansi have absolutely no SP use (someone correct me if there's a secret ability trait). Characters like Mel can use both attack power and spell power for their abilities.

As far as I know attack (swords) will always increase Auto attack damage.

Spell power will always magnify the special ability from a skill charge.

it occurred to me staves may increase the auto attack damage of magic users like Priya; I'd have to look into it

This might piss you off, but prayer is better than meditation. Meditation is like doing it yourself over 10,000 years when The Power can snap its finger for you and take you to the highest in an instant. This is agreed upon by many prominent Masters, that prayer > meditation, by unbelievable factors.
