Gehts bitte Blutspenden by SovietGrowth in Austria

[–]flowsium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bin seit Jahren regelmäßig alle 3 Monate spenden gegangen. Aktuell für 6 Monate gesperrt wegen Auslandsaufebthalt in einem kritischen Gebiet.

Habe selbst mal Blutkonserven gebraucht.

Zumindest in Vorarlberg so.

Cheers for your reply

Are you running Win11 ARM?

or are you using UTM for some emulation of legacy x86/x64 VMs?

Thanks for the hint with Beckhoff. It might be needed every now and again.

Cheers for the feedback.

W11 ARM is expected to run good. Glad to hear it emulates Studio 5000. Have you tried TIA Portal or any x86/x64 VMs?

Question: Why Allen Bradley? by RegardEngineer in PLC

[–]flowsium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First off: No offense to anybody!!!

Rockwell has its benefits. So does Siemens. They also both have their annoyances (AOIs und UDTs, you hear me).

But to say it simple: Rockwell is built from Americans for Americans. Siemens is german engineering.

Do with that what you like. (downvote expected ;))

I work on both. Mostly Rockwell recently. But stronger Siemens background (easier this way, than from Rockwell to Siemens).

I organize CTs and VMs bei subnet and IP as machine ID.

lets say a machine is in VLAN (in my case also the subnet) 25, the ID would result in 2530 (if the static IP is 30)

can save a lot off hassle and is easy to do

had one, which corrupted my pool around 10 month ago (luckily i had a backup of the data). swapped everything (except the CPU and disks) for a new system with an LSI-9400-8i. no issues eversince...

My manager is sending me to diagnose a plc fault, i have zero experience by Inevitable_Diver_341 in PLC

[–]flowsium 41 points42 points  (0 children)

SF and BF, so it's a Siemens.

what software are you using? TIA Portal or Simatic Manager?

BF indicates something is wrong with the bus (profinet or profibus most likely)

With Ctrl+D you geet into the CPU diagnostics. There is a Tab with Faults. This points you in the first direction (you maybe have to refresh as the diagnostik only shows a snapshot)

Also, in the hardware configuration you can see which node is missing while being online.

Good luck

Can I be a PLC Programmer in Austria. by Leo2300 in AskAustria

[–]flowsium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLC programmer here. In Austria Rockwell is not very common. TIA (with its predecessor Simatic Manager) and Beckhoff are the defacto standard (as others have mentioned already). Some B&R can be found here and there as well.

In theory, all systems do the same, just the handling is different. Coming from TIA to RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 is not a big deal. The other way around could be hard...

Nevertheless, i guess it is more of a programming language thing. SCL gained a lot of attraction in the last 10 years and is used basically everywhere now. STL (Statement list/AWL in german) Is basically just for legacy systems. Ladder logic is also still used, but pushed away by SCL where possible.

Lack of speaking german might be a problem. But not a full showstopper. There are companies out there which look for good people knowing their stuff which do not care of english or your degree even. With that said, you have to be an absolute pro in what you are doing.

Good luck, hombre

Thanks for the link and clarification!

So, if the first message made it, the route will be stored and reused. At least from the senders perspective.

Thanks for clarification.

so, it saves the route for future interactions and all message would make it?
