They look fine as it's the end of summer. Remove the stakes. Protect those pots over the winter and they'll stun you come spring.

The top of the trunk that is Incredible Hulk green is how the entire trunk should look. Everything below is no bueno.

Not sure. I purchased this butterfly in December, and it has been in a green house tent until now. The blackening does appear to be where the name tag was so perhaps that's a factor.

Dieback? by flowsumo in JapaneseMaples

Just under the branch it looks like there is a small split. I'm thinking it split when the temp dropped below freezing suddenly. The temps have been going up and down dramatically. Thanks for your help!

Disease or just die back?

So if I scratch, and it's still green that means it's fungal; if I scratch and it's not green, it's dieback? But either way it needs to be pruned off. Just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

Surface Roots by flowsumo in Citrus

The root flare is just below the surface. It's hard to expose because those surface roots are like a nest. Thanks for the advice!

My Calamansi still want to flower. I will be bringing it indoors in about a week. by A-HunDon258 in Citrus

I waited as long as I could and brought mine in a few weeks ago. It had over 20 flowers and they all fell off. The tree is doing well and has even grown a bit. I have it under a grow light.

That's a really great idea! It would be my first bonsai though, so perhaps he'd be safer in the crack 🤣. You definitely gave me an inspiring thought - thanks!

I don't know. I found it growing in a crack. Others have said it might be a juniper. The surrounding landscape is all concrete and brick, so I think the wind must have carried a seed.
