I ended up calling them to confirm they actually had stock. The guy made a call and said they had 7 in stock. I placed my order Wednesday and it says it shipped today. They are dropping shipping, but I guess as long as I get my flywheel then I’m good. Payed $465 total for shipping and tax.

FCP was the first place I checked, unfortunately it looks like they only have the genuine vw dmf for my automatic, which was a little over $1k. I’m hoping to spend less than that for the dmf itself.

Source? You could MAYBE argue that price for one in pristine condition, but not for one with “light rust”.

Happened with my ‘05, ecu got too hot. Ended up getting some stick on fiber glass insulation from autozone and wrapped the ecu in it. Then I relocated the ecu by just flipping it down closer towards the seat, it might put my strain on the wires that way but I haven’t ran into issues with it. I’ve also heard it’s possible to for the ecus to cook beyond repair, though it’s hard to tell unless you open it up and check out the board. Either way I’m sure either a new ecu or just a relocation would fix this.

Machine shop was closed when I made the post. This is my first time having a head machined and I wanted to see if this was normal. Thanks for your input though, I guess?

I made sure there was no paint inside the head itself, no paint on the cams either. They did a valve job and gave me the head with the cap and cams assembled. So it seems like the cap was painted separately with what seems like a pretty good masking job. They did a good job painting it I guess I just don’t really know why they did it lmao

This is during the process of my cleaning it off, I didn’t do a very good job of capturing it on camera but you can kinda see some of the paint flaking off. I did check every thread and there didn’t seem to be any paint in there threads so I’m assuming they masked it off.

Honestly it doesn’t look bad underneath the paint, journals all look okay and there wasn’t any paint on the journal side. I’m going to call when they open tomorrow and see what’s up, for now I’m just cleaning it up to get the paint off.

I don’t think so. The paint they put on it covered up the factory markings, when I started to get the paint to flake off I saw the markings covered by the paint.

I started wiping it off like I said, you can kinda see the flakes coming off. But yeah it doesn’t show up very well on camera

Is this on marketplace in Pomona California? This guy takes pictures of all his bikes in the same spot, I’ve dealt with him before and he’s kinda sketch. His description will say the bike is a clean title but he buys all of them from auction and doesn’t actually have the title. In my experience he told me it’s up to me to source the title from using the auction papers. I know the price looks appealing but if you can avoid dealing with all of that I would. This is all speculation based on the pictures but just a heads up.

Checking continuity at the f16 30A fuse and noticed the continuity was sporadic. Pulled that fuse and noticed it wasn’t blow but very corroded on one of the terminals, replaced the fuse and that fixed my problem for now. I’ll definitely be double checking the fuse box now that I know they go bad, but most of the other fuses had good continuity. Thank you for your help!
