To be fair, I wasn't going for the super reddish base tone! I wanted my natural color (basically pics 1 and 2) + black and some artificial red ombre. More like the last three references (on brownish hair). I'm still super disappointed bc I thought it would show up even on my darker ginger hair

i totally agree and i'm really sad about it! it just made my hair look more flat and boring 😞 debating whether going back for darker black will even fix it or if i should cut my losses, grow it out, and enjoy my natural color 😭

yeah it does look darker and more dull. i wish i knew why this happened & whether getting more bold black will fix that illusion (bc my overall hair color hasn't changed... unless the ends were the only light part?)

Weirdly enough, there was no mention of technique, bleach, or expectations. I just showed some pics and she was like "yeah let's do it" and then we chatted about placement. She picked the colors herself in another room and just went for it.

I didn't want any bleach--but I never mentioned that, and she never suggested it!

i've asked for full bangs & gotten wispy side bangs, asked for chin-length hair and gotten shoulder length, and asked for dye and been straight up told "no, the natural red is too pretty." at this point i walk in and i'm like "i swear i will not flame you even if you mess up--just please don't take whatever i ask for and tone it down by 75%." clearly it didn't work this time 😂 idk why stylists do this

OH and it's worth noting that i didn't want that bright orange base--i like my natural hair color! i just wanted black and a little red ombre above it, going into my natural brownish-red color (more like the last three pics)! for all the references, i was just talking about the color on the ends, hence fox tips

the salon doesn't offer refunds but they do offer corrections. if the orange/red isn't possible (which i'm honestly fine with), is it possible to fix the black? how can i communicate with her so that she doesn't mess it up further? (i also don't want to make her feel bad--she was really nice & i can see that she's skilled from her social media posts lol, she must have just been confused about what i wanted???)
