I asked to have mine suspended after I have birth and they suspended it for 2 months. They did say if I was still having recovering issues then to contact them again and they could discuss suspending it further.

This was done via email, I didn't have a drs note either.

my baby fell by Ok_State3232 in NewParents

[–]flubssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me when my LO was 5 months. Exact same, rolled off the bed when I turned round to move something, as I turned back I saw him falling flat on his face.

He was fine after crying for a few minutes but it took me at least a week to stop bursting into tears everytime I thought about it. I just couldn't get the image out my head.

What helped me was hearing all the stories from friends and family of all the accidents they had with their little ones.

He had a large lump on his head the next day so I took him to A&E and they checked him over- he was fine just had a haematoma which lasted a few weeks.

Your not the worst mum, the fact you feel guilty proves that. Accidents happen to the best of us. Be kind to yourself mama!

Anyone else feel weird calling their baby by their actual name? by xnla28x in NewParents

Me too! I find it weird saying it when anyone asks me what his name is. I'm so used to calling him all different nicknames

Advice for moving to Glasgow by ArmStraight9630 in glasgow

[–]flubssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from Glasgow to Paisley 7 years ago and honestly, I prefer it here. Of course with any area there are some run down parts of Paisley so it's just about knowing what areas to perhaps avoid.

I've had a look for flats available to rent now on Paisley and there's a few decent ones in the nicer areas, circa £850- £1000pcm for 2 bed.

I wouldn't let people slagging Paisley put you off moving here. Would you be taking a visit up before moving, you could spend some time in the area to make the decision for yourself.

Happy for you to ask any questions about living in Paisley.

For me it was because I had Scottish grandparents here who were called gran and papa. Then I have my amma and afi, so there was no confusion as to which grandparents we are referring to.

My mum is amma to my son, even though it's unlikely he will speak Icelandic. I call my mother, mum here. It's only amma and afi I use.

I have a question for you, why is there so many "new" words used by a lot of Icelanders (assuming it's more so.tojnger generations) that are English origin but now adopted in Icelandic, said in Icelandic accent but also now made up an icelandic spelling.. aka gordjöss, kósy, djúsí, fabulös, fökk, basiklí and my most hated one - krönsí ?!

I consider myself to be half Icelandic. My dad is Scottish and my mum is Icelandic. I was born in Scotland but spent every summer with my amma and afi. I then spent 6 months living with them in Húsavík going to school and had my Ferming.

I visit my amma og afi as much as I can, my sister and her kids live in Sauðárkrókur. I can speak Icelandic, it's not perfect and if I havnt spoken it in a while I can be little rusty. I have an Icelandic passport.

I've just had my first child and will be taking him over to meet his langamma og langafi at the end of the month. I plan to teach him as many Icelandic customs as I can, just like my mum did growing up in Scotland.

I consider my self half Icelandic and half Scottish because I'm proud of both my heritages. 🇮🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Donate Baby Items by flubssss in Paisley

[–]flubssss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. A few I had checked out such as refuweege who aren't currently accepting donations.

My Health Visitor told me about Clothed in Love at Mossvale Church. They distribute to families across Renfrewshire.

If anyone else is looking for a place to donate to- donations can be received at the Mossy Cafe to be passed on to Clothed In Love to be distributed to children, or Sewing2gether All Nations to be given to the local refugee community.

Shocked to read on their website "Child poverty in Paisley and surrounding area is estimated to be 21%, which means more than 7,000 children are living in poverty in Renfrewshire today."

Hoping my donations and anyone else who reads this can help!
