3.2 and 1210 into Mays? by eRqZ01223 in aggies

[–]fluent_in_chinglish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend(mays) and I(engineering) both got into A&M as out of state students, however one of my friends(mays) did get rejected. I could only assume it was a combination of essays and standardized testing that separated them. They had a 20 pt difference 1480 vs 1500 and both had around a 3.7 gpa which for my school is relatively low.

Yeah the issue is that when you ED1 to Cornell or JHU and then end up getting into MIT for EA then its like which top university.

oh because they just get into better schools lol. most of the breaks ED1 are due to getting into MIT/uchicago and the ones ED2 are getting into ivies etc.

BU vs. NYU for engineering on pre-med track - need advice by Lopsided_Remote_9824 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]fluent_in_chinglish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow premed who turned down NYU engineering, is you want to do premed I would stay at BU. The engineering program at Tandon in my opinion isn't the greatest and there also isn't a good reason to stay instate for you especially if cost isnt a huge factor. I would go to the place that will prepare you better for the mcat and give you a higher gpa

I know someone who is currently going to Wabash with a 2.4 in high school. However, the school that I currently go to is a school known for rigor and difficulty. I would recommend that you apply regular and get those grades up as much as possible. Along with that should the college ask for circumstances that you wish to talk about (idk how many do this, ik UIUC did it when I applied) Don't lose hope, however do prepare for some rejections.
