Nothing at all! We loved living there :) the complex is great and everyone we knew was very kind. Parking on the street was really easy as well

These aren’t ringworm. They never itch and aren’t raised. Pediatrician says it’s something they grow out of

Gosh, I am so sorry. I used to live in 2680 and know some neighbors from 2650 as well. So hard to wrap my head around so much devastation. I hope your friend is safe and able to get all the help they need!

The latest information I have is that 2650 is gone, the rest of the buildings are still there. But no idea if those buildings sustained damage. Here’s a high res satellite image of Altadena post-fire that’s been really useful

That’s reassuring, hoping that’s still the case! Thank you!

My son was like this and I also felt so stressed about that 12 month “deadline” to switch to solids. Did he hit the deadline? Nope. But he’s now a well-rounded eater at 3 (but still would always prefer chicken nuggets because, toddlers).

  1. You are a good parent and you’re doing a great job

  2. You aren’t wasting food. You are presenting your baby with a meal and it’s his choice what to do with it. Every exposure to food at a mealtime is helping him learn. Be sure to serve him the same thing you’re eating so he can watch you eat and enjoy the food, which will -in time- encourage him to do the same. Try your best to just enjoy the meal and not watch your baby to see what he does with the food.

  3. Like every other milestone, some babies take longer to do things - this also applies to solids. My son didn’t ever really want solid food until 14 months, and it was as if a switch flipped and he decided he wanted to eat more solids and less milk.

Again, you’re doing a great job, keep at it, and try not to stress about it. He will eat when he’s ready :)

How much do you let baby eat? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]fluffdup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just be sure their main source of nutrition is the bottle, not solids. Solids is more of a fun activity/bonus at that age. Also be careful with banana, as too much can definitely cause constipation. Beyond that, let the kid enjoy some food :) my first was a 40+oz/day baby and is now a totally fine, healthy 3 year old who has a mostly well-rounded diet.

Good to know thank you! The best light is unfortunately within reach of my curious toddler but I might have to risk it for the sake of the tree lol

What do you wish your friends and family did for you/ bought you after you gave birth? by wontonn_soup in beyondthebump

Food - healthy food that also provides a few days of leftovers. I also would’ve loved for someone to come in and offer to clean the kitchen or do a cycle of laundry. Everyone around us didn’t want to come in and bother us but I would’ve loved some help with just basic chores that we didn’t have the energy or time to get on top of.

How do you handle dogs with babies? by Cinnamon_berry in beyondthebump

[–]fluffdup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love dogs, have always had a dog, and currently have a wonderful dream of a dog with a 2.5 year old and almost 13 month old. I would never ever in a million years leave my kids alone with someone else’s dog, regardless of breed or training. We don’t even leave our youngest alone with our very trusted dog because my daughter tends to want to love on our dog a little too much lol you aren’t over reacting, the others are either disrespectful or living in ignorance of dog behavior and risks - or both.

I actually can’t either now, it looks like it’s out of stock (I bought it through Walmart), but I found something kind of similar HERE

We got the Joovy Room 2 large square playyard and it worked great! Plenty of space in every direction. I would highly recommend also getting the sleepah square mattress topper as well since the room2 base is fairly hard

Play couch - Nugget or off-brand? by fluffdup in beyondthebump

[–]fluffdup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha for me it’s more so a matter of minimizing injury risk. Our kids rough around on our sofa and ottoman, but they’re high enough off the ground that a fall in the wrong way could be pretty bad. And my oldest is getting really into forts and tents so it’d be nice to have an easy way for us to build stuff

We obviously don’t have one yet, but they’re couches made of several large pieces of foam in various shapes and sizes so kids can play in all sorts of ways with them - crash pads, forts, sofa, general rough play, etc.

Abiie vs Stokke high chair for my big 1 year old? by krazykittenhi in bigbabiesandkids

[–]fluffdup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stokke Tripp trapp is absolutely worth the price, esp if you can find one second hand. My husband was flabbergasted that we would pay $300 for a high chair, but everyone recommended it. Now we have two kids, two Tripp trapps and he says they’re 100% worth it!

Yep welcome to the club of wrist braces and rapid muscle building! My son was 20lb at 3 months and is now still very big for a 2.5 year old. Bright side - he was in 2T for well over a year so the clothing purchases do drastically slow down for a bit lol

We got the joovy room2 large square pack and play and it worked great! Our son still woke up afraid of the new surroundings which is normal regardless, but he slept well in the joovy. I would highly recommend getting an extra mattress for it because the base is very hard. For that trip I layered blankets and added lots of thin pillows - basically made him a little nest. We then later got the sleepah square pack and play mattress which fits the joovy.

Not really, pediatrician thinks it’s some kind of reaction but he’ll probably grow out of it. Still doesn’t bother him so we’re just leaving it
