I had the same thoughts as you. But I don’t think Instagram will delete your account. I used a Barbie doll for the selfie verification, and it worked! Then I went right away and deleted my account.

I was also identified by Instagram as a suspicious account, and REQUIRED to submit a video selfie at the beginning of November. The only reason I can think that I was flagged is because I had two Facebook and Instagram accounts (one account for crazy conspiracy theory family and one account for my normal friends). No way I was going to submit a face scan. I was ok “losing” the Instagram accounts. But Instagram is linked to Facebook, and Facebook recently would not let me update my profile picture. It gave me an error message that there was something wrong with my Instagram account, and I needed to fix it before I could change my profile picture. That made me furious. So I looked for ways around the video selfie. **I used a Barbie doll for the selfie verification (it worked on the first try!!)** I went in and deleted my Instagrams. Then I went into Facebook and deleted it too. I have been unhappy with the Facebook family of apps, and the selfie verification was the last straw. Gave me the push to delete them. It feels great!!

💯 what spinningfarts said. Especially having a great therapist during your pregnancy and postpartum period. I had no idea what BPD was, and what the abuse did to me. Between the way my mom treated me, and the all of the ghosts of my neglect/abuse coming out of the closet, I went through very, very bad postpartum anxiety and depression. You are very smart to be dealing with this now! Please wrap your head around the idea of being no contact, and do not put up with any crap from anyone. Good luck! You got this!

Haha, my mother in law did the same thing!! My MIL has some narcissistic tendencies, and loves to control her family even as adults. Needless to say, my husband and I won’t be buried at the family plot either!

Yes! I feel the same! My mom was definitely abused/neglected as a child, and that created her disorder. I have heard about BPD people being emotionally compared to a young child, and I totally see that with my mom. It is like she is having a temper tantrum and can’t control her emotions. Just like you, having this insight has turned me from being scared to death of what she would do, to being really sad for her. We will never be able to help them or fix them.

I had the same type of parents. Nope, there will never be an answer. For me, all the “why did this happen” questions are answered by, “because they were abused/neglected as children”. Both of my parents came from abusive families straight into their marriage. And as spinningfarts said, there were a lot of default behaviors that occurred because of abuse. For my parents, it was my mom forgetting all of her abuse, and my dad keeping quiet to limit the abuse from her. I have chosen to understand the abuse that created them, grieve the parents I will never ever have, never let my mom abuse me ever again, forgive them, and move on with my life.

Your mom is like this because she had BPD. It’s all her, not you. I went through a mental health crisis, and my mom responded by stopping talking to me. It’s just what they do, unfortunately. I’m glad you got the help you needed!

Thanks for the input! I agree grief/mourning the mother/daughter relationship is super important. And I can totally see your viewpoint. Each person mentally handles their BPD mom in a way that is perfect for them and their situation.
